Questionable Content's Faye Gets The Tape Gag

Here it is, the only gag scene in the very popular web comic Questionable Content. Faye, a mouthy barista with a rapier wit is giving a shy girl a hard time and her boss Dora keeps telling her to shut up, and finally, out comes the duct tape.

There's also a scene where Marten, the comic's male lead, puts the sexy lesbian librarian in shibari bondage. As a favor. You'll have to find that one on your own.

In fact, Questionable Content, although it is not nearly as sexy as many webcomics (don't look for nudity) does have a supporting character who is a famous former bondage model (described as a "nouveau Betty Page"), that's Marten's mother, who modeled as "Veronica Vance." No images of her in bondage gear, but who knows what will come down the road eventually.

However, the point of Questionable Content is not the bondage, it's the funny, sharp writing. The female characters are snotty baristas who work at Coffee of Doom, and the wit and barbs are very tasty indeed. Mostly the strip is what I'd call a Marty Stu, very appropriately as the lead character is named Marten and has what amounts to a harem of hot young twenty-something women, all of whom think Marten is incredibly cute, despite his shyness and the ease with which he's flustered. However, Jeph Jacques the comic's creator, is well aware of Marten's flaws and has plenty of fun with him.

It all has a hazy stranger in paradise feel with young adults with healthy libidos agonizing over their relationships or lack of them, and the tasty wit makes it all worthwhile. I highly recommend you go to page 1 and read from the beginning.

Walkin' The Line

It's interesting, the way the mainstream and bondage are closing ranks in all sorts of subtle and mostly unnoticed ways. Here we have an artist, Kennedy James, getting a grant to put chairs in shibari bondage. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "chair tie." I look at the photos and think, "This must mean something!" Well, that's art for ya! I'm totally missing the point of putting furniture in bondage. Perhaps it's a sly commentary on the whole human furniture bondage fetish. To me, it simply seems pointless, like so much of art.

But then, look at the sculptor! Hawt young indie girl type doing the bondage! Whoa! She looks like she could have come straight out of Coffee of Doom from Questionable Content. You gotta love it! Ye Olde Kink: Dr. Samuel Johnson, Kinkmeister

One of the interesting points about history is this: how did kink express itself in a time period when slavery was a real and extant thing? I mean, if you wanted someone to be your slave in such times, and you had money, you just bought them. There was no power exchange, consensuality, slaves were just property. A consensual kinky relationship would have undoubtedly been more appealing than owning a real slave, to anyone who examined the ethics of such things at least, but was there even a framework for that kind of thinking around at the time?

Cue Kate Chisholm's book Wits and Wives, Dr. Johnson in the Company of Women, which sheds a tiny ray of light on the topic in an offhand sort of way.

A review of the book in The Guardian Online points out that Wits and Wives has passages that reveals that Dr. Johnson engaged in some kinky correspondence with Hester Thrale, the wife of a wealthy brewer who plied him with meat pies and such, that may have had some basis in a real life kinky relationship between the two of them (no one knows, apparently, if that was true).

Here's the relevant passage from The Guardian's review:

Johnson’s other chief adult relationship was with Hester Thrale, the wife of a wealthy Streatham brewer. Hester kept the morose widower supplied with ‘meats, pies, puddings and tarts’, of the pastry variety. Whether it was a sexual union is disputed, though their correspondence contains kinky references to chains, keys and bondage.

So apparently there WAS some awareness of consensual kink at the time, which the early to mid 1700s, for Johnson and Thrale, a period when England was neck deep in the Atlantic slave trade. Just the fact that their correspondence was laced to kinky references to chains, keys and bondage indicates that it was on their minds in a sexual sort of way.

I've no idea how that worked. Certainly the ability to buy human beings and keep them in chains and physically beat and torment them as a practical and completely socially acceptable means of bending them to your will must have had some effect on anyone having bondage fantasies. It's really hard, though, to wrap my head around what it must have been. Of course, ordinary human hypocrisy probably easily accounts for any cognitive dissonance of old-time bondage connoisseurs, and undoubtedly many bondage fetishists of the time simply bought slaves and used them in the ways their sexual fantasies worked, while maintaining a vanilla relationship with their spouse. (In my the same way that Spartans had other warriors for lovers and wives for child-bearing.)

Still, the fundamental unfairness of actual slavery must have generated a lot of congnitive dissonance among thinking men and women. It must have been strange and disconcerting to be a bondage fan in such times. Hell, it's strange enough nowadays!

Busby Berkeley got away with one hell of a lot of kinky stuff before the Hays Code rang down an iron curtain on filmmakers. All kidding aside, even though this fake is not NEARLY as slick at the one I ran in my article on Slave Leia RP in Star War: The Old Republic, it's technically a more proficient fake. The SWTOR article fake was mainly a matter of excellent picture selection ... the faker found a bondage model whose skin tone and lighting almost exactly matched a photo of Leia's face from Star Wars.

In the fake shown here, the faker had to match three key elements: a vidcap of Leia's face from Return of the Jedi, a photo of a bondage model, and a photo of a 3D model of a Gammorean guard. Getting these three images to come even CLOSE to looking like a single image had to have been very difficult. The photo of the bondage model, I think, was a much cleaner and sharper image than the vidcap. The faker had to make her body look grainy enough to match the face, it could not have been an easy task. Making the Gammorean model look realistic enough to match the other two elements had to have been a bear. Or at least, a Gammorean. Kudoes to the artist whomeover it is, becuase in the first few seconds that you look at the image it does look like a naked, collared, shackled, manacles Slave Leia straining against the leash of her Gammorrean guard. That's an impressive feat.

Nabber's Empire: An Online Bondage/Damsel In Distress Game

Well this hits just keep on coming in the world of kinky gaming. Over on Danger Theater I found an article about a new online game called Nabber's Empire which is all about kidnappers and damsels in distresses. Participants can be either ad kidnapper or a damsel in distress, they roleplay their situations. The kidnappers try to build up resources to aid in the kidnapping of damsels. The damsels try to snoop around and find ways out of their predicaments.

You can find out where to find the latest mods (for non-gamers, "modifications of game features, such as avatars," discuss issues in game modding and socialize with others who enjoy adapting games to their own purposes. I had no idea things had gone so far so fast in games outside Second Life, but I shoulda knowed, I guess. Check it out!

Damsel In Distress Fest

What you see above is a vidcap for a movie called “Endure” which is, according to the listing on Brian's Page, a real damsel in distress-fest. Basically, a serial killer kidnaps a young woman, takes photos of her bound and gagged, and then leaves her tied to a tree in a Florida swamp, intending to come back later I guess. But he gets in an auto accident, and dies, on the way back home, leaving his captive tied to the tree. Detectives find his captive's photos in the car when they investigate the wreck, figure out that she's missing and the race is on to find her before she dies of thirst or gets sucked dry by mosquitoes. (I don't know if there's a threat of being eaten by alligators, but if there's NOT, somebody has missed a dramatic opportunity!)

What I particularly like about the image is the “Sold” sign next to the bound and gagged damsel. It very strongly conveys “Internet sex slave auction fantasy.”

Which gave me an idea for a new article. I was thinking of posting scenes from various types of films and making the readers guess their origin: mainstream movie, mainstream TV show, softcore porn, hardcore porn, freaking Internet bondage porn with personal butt cannons and melon squishers, Youtube videos, or what-have-you.

A recent find of an ancient Roman coin in the Thames River that was essentially a ticket for entertainment in a brothel has brought to light some of the sex trade practices of the Roman Empire and also inspired some prose in the Mail Online, the online version of The Daily Mail of London, that comes very close to being heavy-breathing bodice-ripper fantasy. Some fans over on Brians Page put up some posts a few days ago about the fact that they're losing interest in mainstream bondage scenes because they've become too dark and violent. The sense of lighthearted fun that characterized damsel in distress scenes in mainstream media is gone. It's gone largely because you no longer know that damsel in distress are safe, with TV's emphasis on dark edgy dramas leading to them being beaten, tortured, raped and murdered, and an increasing tendency to let the viewer watch.

Each time you guess a letter wrong, a whip lashes one item of clothing off. If you can guess the word before she is reduced to just her thong, you get to lash her more whiles she hangs by her wrists wearing only the thong.

Not being into lashing, I don't find the winning reward all that much fun, but the game itself is still Hangman, and the visual is MUCH, MUCH nicer than the stick figure on a scaffold.

The Icanhazcheeseburger family of sites once again provides improbable fodder for politicallysexy, with its image of a fashion model dressed in what is clearly a pony girl inspired sort of ensemble (French for "outfit"). There is definitely something about that outfit that says "ride me like the sex beast that I am."

It's a shame what they did to the model's face in the makeup department, but as I noted in my Celebrity Bondage piece on Christina Aguilera, something about bondage-related imagery makes makeup artists break out the clown makeup -- no exception here. In any event, this will be another fine addition to the storied history of pony girls, which I have written about so briefly and inaccurately, but majorly funly.

Slavegirls Slink Into Oblivion, Skyrim, DragonAge Origins

Game designers have been quick to pump up the violence in their games, but sort of slow to pump up the sex. Easy to figure out why: the censors get pumped when the sex gets pumped. Can't have young men thinking about teh sexy!

Unfortunately for the Forces of Darkness, aka censors, games are becoming more modifiable, i.e., players can alter the game and its characters to more closely suit their interests. Good for the game, good for the gamers, bad for the censors. Because of course that mean slavegirls are slinking into video games other than Second Life, which isn't really a game anyway.

You can see evidence of it on Youtube, where a gamer named kajiragames has uploaded a number of his or her adventures playing characters who are modded to be naked slave girls. He or she's got a slavegirl character playing Oblivion, as well a a naked female viking playing DragonAge: Origins, and a naked female character playing Skyrim. I doubt there's much encouragement or guidance in ANY of these games as to how to construct naked female characters to play these games, just generic information on how to mod the game, but as we all know, real people tend to be a lot more creative and interesting than any corporation would ever allow.

You can check out an Oblivion run through here, there'll also be links to other kajiragames run throughs. The easiest way to see all the various game runs is to subscribe to kajiragames' channel. Maybe he or she will post some information about how the modding is done.

Now, granted, all of the videos I've seen so far has had the chracter engaging in solitary quests and dealing with NPCs (non playe characters) but frankly, it's just a matter of time til this capabiity reaches MMOs and of course, as soon as that happens the MMOs will be flooded with naked slavegirls turning all these formerly wholesome games inot the same kind of sexual monkeyshines that makes Second Life such a riot to play.

Of course, you may be wondering, why isn't everyone playing Second Life then? The answer is obvious ... Second Life demands a certain amount of creativity on the part of its players to get the max out of it. Most other games provide pre-planned characters, roles and stories, but in the case of, say, Second Life Gor all the characters, roles, stories, clothes, locales and so forth are created by the players using the tools Second Life offers. Not everyone has that kind of creativity. But as soon as it gets easy to buy/copy/borrow/whatever slavegirl character mods for all these moddable gains, I anticipate hordes of slavegirls flooding the games in zombielike waves, crying "Buy me, Master! Buy me, Maaaasterrrrrrrr..."

Christina's World: New, Improved, Urbanized and Sexualized!

So my flying monkey brought home a link about Slave Girl Leia, which didn't seem to productive at first glance ... a discussion on what appears to be an official forum of the Star Wars: The Old Republic online RP game. It starts off innocently enough, with an RPer asking where she can get a sexy slavegirl outfit for her character. There are a couple of reasonable sorts of responses, then long about the fifth post the mod rushes in and locks the thread on the grounds that"We ask that everyone hold off on submitting feedback until they have experienced gameplay on Public Test." ElfXXX -- World of Sexcraft

Had to happen sooner or later! I was reading the smart posts over at the Erosblog and I noticed and ad for what looked like a sexy video game called Elfxxx.

I checked it out further and realized that somebody has decided to bring the sexy to the World of Warcraft, using those incredibly lifelike Poser 3D animations that just keep getting more and more lifelike. Thus, Elfxxx, a new porn site/game/whatever-the-hell-it-is. Apparently it is the story of a number of hot female elves involved in a war with somebody or other, whose primary response to attacks is to fuck their way out of them.

The Elfxxx site advertises that it has storylines, and has a demo showing some limited ability to control the action in the XXX sex scenes, but there's no indication that players can become a character and get immersed in the game as you can in, say, Second Life Gor.

There's also no indication of sexual bondage, but that may be a sampling error.

Still, it looks like a beautifully realized vision of World of Warcraft with sexy elves doing the sexy sex, and I imagine may prove very attractive to WoW players and other RPG types whose minds turn to the occasional sex fantasy. First off is the story associated with the image above: South Koreans have set up a statue of a Korean comfort woman outside the Japanese embassy. Seems that the Japanese army kidnapped tens of thousands of Korean women to use as "comfort women," i.e., sex slaves, for the troops. Adventures of Hercules In The Land of Cheese

The Adventures of Hercules is a ripe piece of sword and sandal cheese from 1985 starring strongman Lou Ferrigno. The reviewers on the Internet Movie Data Base give it a fairly thorough drubbing, but frankly it does not sound much worse than a lot of other family-oriented sword and sandal flicks.

And in one respect, it's much better than most. In this adventure, Hercules has a couple of lovely young wenches accompanying him on at least some of his adventures, and I guess it being 1985 they figured out that some watchers would like to see skimpily clad females along with the usual leather-diaper clad male lead, and the female leads are MOST entertaining. While perusing a number of eminent websites in pursuit of my intellectual studies, I noticed something rather striking: very few of the artsy bondage kinda sites have any idea what gags are all about, as they almost never use them.

Come to think of it, a lot of hardcore bondage sites tend to neglect gags, using them rarely, or not effectively. The pic above shows what gags are all about ... controlling the sub's mouth. In the case of a ring gag, it's propping the mouth open, allowing things to be shoved rapidly in and out of it. In the case of your more commonplace ball gag, it's filling the mouth, letting the sub know that even as her top is working her pussy, her mouth is still under his control, not hers.

It's also about the softly muffled cries of passion that get out from under a gag, and the way a string of drool trails down the chin, a visible reminder of the sub's helplessness. First of all, let me say that I feel that I am a truly worthy cause. Granted, I am not a sick cat, but my family owns a cat and he does not always feel well, and that should count for something. But apparently it does not in the eyes of Paypal, those bastards!

But generous and deserving soul though I am, I am not about to go through what Regretsy went through. They decided to collect money to give gifts to 200 poor families, and put up a Paypal donate button so visitors to the site could donate funds for that purpose. Paypal somehow discovered this hideous act of chicanery and froze Regretsy's Paypals accounts -- all of them, not just the charity account -- in order to keep those needy families from getting any ill-gotten gains.

Seriously, Paypal said that the donate button could be used for sick cats, but not for needy families! And a lot of other bullshit ... read the story at the link, it's got almost unbelievable levels of corporate bullshit and dickery in it ... well, unbelievable unless you've ever had any dealings with Paypal.

So Regretsy got lots of publicity out of the debacle, which is great, but a regular guy like me? Doing sexual bondage humor? They'd squash me without a thought.

Empowered Meets Wonder Woman

Permit me to introduce you to the work of GrouchoM, another Deviantart sort of guy (if that is indeed his real name!). His specialty is drawing artwork based on existing animated images and comics. He appears to be a big fan of Totally Spies, but he also does Teen Titans, Drew Saturday, Fantastic Four, various anime and manga ... he goes wherever his sense of humor leads him. His specialty is humorous captions, and as you can tell from this image, he's got a great feel for making his characters' speech exactly match the original, which greatly ramps up the humor. And he also has a nice way of ramping up the bondage and damsel in distress imagery in his art, though he stays within the confines of the original character (i.e., the costumes tend to stay on).

As you may know, I'm a big fan of Empowered and Wonder Woman, so this comic really pushes my buttons.

In this case, Empowered's bumbling foot-in-mouth geek girl style of speech perfectly fits the occasion as she gushes over Wonder Woman but manages to do so in a way that just might infuriate her. So, a couple days ago I get a message from an acquaintance on a message board I frequent that said, "You ought to check this guy's art out, I think you'd really enjoy it." So I checked it out, mostly to be nice, because most of the time I get such recommendations it's for an artist who's basically mediocre but is pushing the recommender's buttons in all sort of ways. Which may not be the same buttons I have.

But after an hour so staring bug-eyed at topnotch artwork, wondering why the hell I'd never heard of Shiniez before, I posted to the guy and asked if I could publish the piece you see above. He was cool about it and so, here we are.

It's not JUST the quality of the artwork though. Shiniez has a white-hot focus on the lesbian bondage fantasy, not just from the viewpoint of the kinky sex, though he is absolutely spot-on there, but from the viewpoint of the character dynamics of the fantasy. You understand the attraction the highly kinky relationship has for the characters involved, which makes the sexual imagery much more powerful.

Premature Evacuation

This is a vidcap from a 1963 Italian horror flick called "The Demon" and that's the star, Dalilah Lavi, tied up on that bed. It's a minor sort of scene in what the IMDB reviewers say is a very scary movie, except it's unusual in a couple of interesting ways.

In the first place, Lavi's hands are tied behind her back, which is unusual, but not extraordinarily so. She's also lying face down on the bed, which IS extraordinarily unusual, almost always when an actress is tied on a bed in a mainstream scene she's face up, probably because it's easier for the camera to capture her face as she emotes that way. And I suspect that being tied face down also has a sexual submissiveness connotation that may have worked against such scenes as well, though I'm SURE the technical aspect is the one that counts.

A third aspect of the scene: that's a VERY short shift she's wearing, and with the camera going straight up it. Hike that dress up another two or three inches and we'd know for sure whether or not she's wearing panties. That cranks up the sexual aspect of the scene a great deal.

When you combine the behind the back tie, the face down pose and the very short dress with Lavi's look of vulnerability and fear, and her beauty, you get a really powerful sexual image, for its time. It's a really nifty mainstream image in that regard.

The movie itself is said to be a predecessor of "The Exorcist" -- Lavi plays a young woman accused of being possessed by a demon, calling for an exorcism, and a number of scenes from her exorcism, especially "the spider walk" (note: I am going on hearsay, have not seen either film) are VERY much like scenes that appeared later in the Exorcist, albeit in a more horrific form.

And of course, I have self-interest here. If the big media companies can establish a mechanism for censoring the Internet, every asshole special interest that wants to control others' thoughts will be dying to get their filthy paws on the censorship control panel. And first in line will be the right wing social conservatives who hate porn, and the prudo-feminists who hate porn. They still exist, and if there's an easy mechanism already extant for censoring, you can bet they'll try to slide a bill through to censor the porn out of the Internet.

I've made a couple of posts involving repurposed photos that I have completely, willfully and falsely implied relate to cheerleader training. (Here and here to be exact). So it was with great interest that I saw the above photo placed on a radio station's blog as the "picture of the day," showing what appears to be a group of female bondage slaves writhing on the ground on a soccer field while male soccer players practiced in the background.

It was labelled a female Russian bondage soccer team. A commenter posted that he thought they were cheerleaders, not players, and looking at the photo I tend to agree with the anonymous commenter -- they are all very attractive young women with long-flowing hair. Now that does not preclude them from being a soccer team, but given that ALL of them have that look, I'd say it's kind of a clue. Being a soccer player is quite consistent with being a hottie, since soccer players are typically young and fit, but a good many of the best soccer players are just average-looking at best. It's a sport, not a beauty contest.

I dug a little deeper, found a Russian photo site (kind of like Reddit only more humor oriented) called Kaifolog.ru that had the photos branded with it's URL and asked for a linkback if their photos are used. So here ya go, Kaifolog, nice find! (Do check it out, there are some amazing photos on the site. Some are NSFW. You can use Google translator to get an idea what's being written, but most of the images are universal in their appeal.)

I still wasn't happy, wanted to know who actually took the pictures, and finally tracked it down to a St. Petersburg, Russia, photographer named Alexander Petrosyan. Found his livejournal page, check it out, he's done some amazing stuff. And both his page and Kaifolog have much larger images of the bondage cheerleaders than are shown here.

Still don't know the full story behind the photo, but you gotta admit ... bondage cheerleaders ... those Russians have got it going on! And of course, hats off to Alexander Petrosyan, for taking the photo.

New Starz Channel Series Stars Harem Slave Girl

According to a report in the New York Magazine website, Gina Gershon is helming a new series set in a Turkish (Ottoman Empire era) harem and starring a slave girl to be show on the Starz Channel.

Potentially, this is GREAT news. Starz is the channel that is currently showing the Spartacus series, which I believe has done absolutely the best job of handling slavegirl nudity and sex of any movie, TV series, etc., in existence. If any network is capable of developing a show that can fully flesh out the superheated sex fantasies that harems have engendered in people since the 1800s, it's Starz.

However, the series also has a feminist theme, as it covers a period when the harem became so influential over the sultan that it was called "The Reign of Women." Now, the last movie that dealt with this theme in a feminist fashion was the blood-curdlingly awful movie Harem starring Natassia Kinski. Harem was notable for lacking sexiness, nudity, plot, drama, or interesting characterizations.

I have no idea what we'll get from the Starz Harem, the fact that it's from Starz gives me hope, the feminist theme reminds me of the Kinski Harem and dashes cold water on those hopes. Ideally, I don't really think there's a conflict between sexy, naked slavegirls and feminist themes, but things tends to work out otherwise in the real world.

I'm sure of one thing: if Starz forgoes the naked slave girl sexiness, the series will be a ratings flop. People have come to expect edgy themes, nudity and sex from premium channel TV series, and a harem theme promises a lot of that. Break that promise, and they are doomed to low ratings.

The fakes look like illustrations, and they basically are, but I'm betting the figures begin as photomanips, then get a LOT of Photoshop filtering and touch-up, as well as maybe some Poser manipulation, because that floor Heigl is lying on sure looks like a top quality Poser floor to me.

But aside from wondering how they did it, the quality of the images is topnotch -- the celebrity faces are very well done, you don't need a caption to tell which celebrity is which if you are familiar with the celebrity (as is the case with some bondage fakes). The quality varies, this one is not as good as most, but I've got a weakness for Katherine Heigl. It's a pay site, but there are a lot of free images to look at if you are interested, and I think you will be. Cecilia Cheung is a Chinese movie star of the sort who plays the lead in romantic comedies, sort of a Katherine Heigl equivalent. You see her here bound and ball gagged, an image which got pasted all over Chinese tabloids. The interesting thing about this particular sex scandal is that it's one of those crouching scandal/hidden photos things.

Her career never really took off until she was involved in the Edison Chen sex photos scandal, in which a series of photos of Chen having sex with several actresses of the time were stolen from Chen and pasted across the Internet back in 2008. (Google "Cecilia Cheung nude" with the safe search filters turned off to see the images, there are a LOT of them and they'll be right up at the top, including images of Cheung with cock in her face and pulling her labia apart ... apparently, it was a hell of a sex session.) People went to jail for it, as the photos were in fact outright stolen from Chen's camera. Worked for Connie Cheung, as the notoriety got her noticed.

Flash forward to 2011 and suddenly these pics of Cheung in bondage pop up. Everybody is scandalized. But there's a catch: these were not stolen or illicit images at all. They are actually scenes from a short film called "Captive" that Cheung made in the beginning of her career when she was a relatively unknown actress, that was publicly exhibited. This site has an excellent summary of how things went down plus more photos.

Since practically no one saw the short film and Cheung was a nobody at the time, it sort of passed under the bridge until somebody found the photos and realized a new sex scandal was in the making.

The pictures also had a dark undercurrent because Cheung's father was a member of a Triad, the notorious Mafia-gang-equivalents of China, and a "misunderstanding" he got into with a rival gang led to death threats and rape threats against Cheung early in her career.

All-in-all it was the equivalent of a Sandra Bullock "Fire on the Amazon" thing. (Bullock was a relative unknown when she made "Fire on the Amazon" nobody paid any attention to the film until she became an established star) except it was bondage instead of softcore sex, and except for the fact that no one here seems to give a flip about "Fire On The Amazon" -- quite appropriately, I think.

I do have a caveat, I'm looking at this Chinese scandal from a strictly American perspective, I don't know how much of a scandal it really was. In Japan, for example, many mainstream anime producers have also done echhi and hentai (adult anime) with no one really caring about it, and major film studios (Universal Pictures equivalents) have done softcore bondage porn (Wife to be Sacrificed, for example). So, I could have read this all wrong. But based on what I've read from the Chinese media, I think I'm fairly close.

The guy definitely had a feel for damsel in distress art, and he had plenty of opportunity to express it, because he was "ekeing out a living" as one blogger put it, working for an Australian publisher called the Horwitz Company, which nowadays publishes children's books, gardening books, and glossy mainstream magazines like TV Soap, Inside Sports, as detailed in this blog.

However, in the 1960s and 70s, Horwitz mainly published lurid paperbacks with titles like "Victim of the SS," "Death Island," and "Satan's Captive." It was straight-up lurid sweat-mag stuff, not far from SM porn from the sound of it (haven't read any so can't really say) and Col Cameron illustrated a lot of the covers. An Oldie But Goodie: Maitresse

This is chair bondage, but it is NOT comfy chair bondage. You can't see it in this shot, but the girl's wrists are tied to the back of the chair, and of course her knees are tied wide apart. And of course, she's naked. That's how it's done!

The French film Maitresse is what I would call an offbeat romance released in 1975. Written and directed by acclaimed French director Barbet Schroeder, it starred Gerard Depardieu as a good-natured burglar who gets involved with a professional dominatrix (Bulle Ogier) after an unsuccessful attempt to burglarize her leaves him cuffed to her radiator.

As Ogier's character is a dominatrix, most of the bondage is definitely femdom/malesub kinda stuff, but at the 38 minute mark there's the tasty femsub whipping scene I've made caps of, with the boyfriend sharing some hot kisses with his bound sub while Depardieu lays on.

What makes the scene stand out in my mind is the thoroughness with which the woman in the chair is bound. In the mainstream, even scenes that are all about the sexual bondage tend to feature feeble bondage scenes. This is NOT feeble stuff, perhaps because it's rumored that real-life French submissives played the submissives in the film (rumor even has it that they were not paid for their work, but rather paid for the chance to be in the film). And I did a quick scan of the scenes after the female bondage scene, it was all femdom/malesub stuff, so far as I could tell.

Along the same lines, there are supposed to be some scenes of torture that shocked audiences at the time (the movie is or was banned in Britain, not sure of the time frame) and that might be a product of using real-life subs as well. I haven't seen that section, as scenes involving torture squick me. Leave it for those who like it.

Grant Morrison To Take Wonder Woman Back To Her Bondage Roots

A post on the Comics Alliance blog indicates that famous comics writer Grant Morrison plans to have a new version of Wonder Woman out in 2012. The post says:

In a lengthy and in-depth conversation with attendees of this year's Edinburgh Book Festival in Scotland, comics writer Grant Morrison indicated his long in-the-works Wonder Woman project may finally appear in 2012, that it will be influenced by the character's fetishistic roots in the original comics by William Moulton Marston

Apparently Morrison plans to reconcile Wonder Woman's bondage beginnings (as detailed in my article here) with current feminism, which considering the enraged opposition female bondage faces from many feminists, is going to be a chore to say the least. Will it be controversial amid the nest of snarly SNAGs and prudo-feminists that are all too common in the comics world? You betcha!

It's a wonderful idea, and if well executed it might be a breakthrough work for Wonder Woman, and Morrison by all accounts is a brilliant writer who might just be able to manage it. But I'm having a lot of trouble with the thought that DC Comics, Wonder Woman's publisher, would greenlight the comic. Remember, comic books themselves are a niche market, the comic publishers make their big money from the blockbuster movies that superhero comics keep generating. And I can see a studio exec going, "Look boys, we really can't have Wonder Woman getting into the bondage if we want to sell tickets to movies with her in them. It's still a family audience out there."

Well I guess we will find out next year, if the world doesn't end. Whether the world ends or DC greenlights bondage Wonder Woman is an interesting bet ... perhaps the one will lead to the other!

Bondage Champagne: It's For Real!

The fashion world is rapidly doing to the word "bondage" what the food industry once did to words such as "natural" and "organic." Just as the term "organic" gradually got expanded from "not made with chemical pesticides and additives" to "does not actually contain plutonium," so "bondage" has been expanded from "a person tied up, chained up, gagged, etc." to "a person wearing something that is black or some other color with a string or strap hanging somewhere."
