"A bondage bubbly that will not make you gag!"
The fashion world is rapidly doing to the word "bondage" what the food industry once did to words such as "natural" and "organic." Just as the term "organic" gradually got expanded from "not made with chemical pesticides and additives" to "does not actually contain plutonium," so "bondage" has been expanded from "a person tied up, chained up, gagged, etc." to "a person wearing something that is black or some other color with a string or strap hanging somewhere."
Think I'm exaggerating? Check out that champagne above! It's being marketed as "Jean-Paul Gaultier bondage bubbly created to ring in Halloween," a nice Piper-Heidsieck that comes in a black bottle with black fishnet and a set of black studs around the rim of the bottle.
You can read about it here.
What next? Will Coke advertise itself as a bondage soft drink because Coke appears black when poured into a glass? Will people use bondage belts to hold up their pants and bondage laces to tie their shoes? Has the world gone MAD in short? (Short answer: Yes. Long answer: It took you this long to notice?)
