I'm very pleased with the generic promo image I came up with for the sale. It's based on an image I created for a previous year, this one:

I was quite pleased with this image when I created it. It's a Second Life avatar combined with stock photo images of a hookah and marijuana plants I purchased from Deposit Photos. I thought they worked very well together, even though the leaves were kinda BRIGHT green and the Second Life avatar, although gorgeous, was a tad cartoonish.

So I rant the plants and the hookah and the avatar through Civitai to see if I could get an upgrade. And boy did I! Civitai gave me the healthiest, happiest, hippiest looking sex slave ever, with a hookah at her side. It also got the background marijuana plants working at a new level, and added a second hookah for good measure. Truly an invitation to a toke and a good time. Enjoy!

If you liked my novel "Sword and Submission," you're going to like "The Taking of Shining Cloud." It's about Shining Cloud, a woman living a neolithic lifestyle on the high plains (think Southern Appalachians, only not). The only contact with anything resembling civilization the village of Kabonga has is the occasional trader who comes by to sell them iron pots and tools, spear points and knives and such, as well as such trinkets as the Kabongans like. For them civilization is a distant rumor. They don't even have much contact with other tribes. They live an idyllic life of subsistence farming, foraging, hunting, fucking, taking drugs and gossipping about everything.

Shining Cloud is young, healthy and good-looking, though not especially good-looking by the standards of her tribe, which doesn't care about looks all that much. When everybody knows everybody as a person, looks aren't as important, it's who you are that's important. Shining Cloud is popular with the men because, like most young adults in the tribe, male and female, she really likes sex. (She does not want children of her own, so she chews chingrilla leaves, a natural birth control drug.) Shining Cloud also likes children and helps care for them, and she likes foraging so she brings in food for the tribe and has a pleasant, relaxed nature that makes her popular with the Kabongans in general. They think she is beautiful because of her nature more than her looks.

When her village is raided by slavers, Shining Cloud's life is destroyed, along with the village. Slavers had never raided Kabonga or any place near it in living memory, so the villagers with their relaxed, peaceful culture were a pushover. All the men were killed, all the women taken captive, including Shining Cloud. (I do not mention kids in my story, primarily because of the CP issues. Everybody in my story is over 18, per the disclaimer, even though a village of neolithic hunter/forager/planters would naturally have lots of children about.) 

The raiders take them away to slavery, but the particular raider who finds Shining Cloud, Rogulus, takes a special interest in her. He fucks her, of course, but he is also kind. This is very much a fish-out-of water story and I have some fun with the way Shining Cloud and Rogulus misunderstand each other due to their different cultures, and the way the river port city strikes Shining Cloud and the other Kabongans.

I also have fun portraying the ways money acts as a force of evil, from Shining Cloud's point of view. And of course it is all within the context of lots and lots of sexual bondage and rape. Much of the rape of Shining Cloud by the raiders occurs where she is tied to the backs of various horses. No bestiality, of course, no thanks to the AI art program that so often wanted to take prompts that were about a man and woman fucking while the woman is tied ATOP the horse as bestiality. Eventually I just had to give up including horses of any type in my promo art, even in the background. I suspect this is because a lot of people are using AI art to create bestiality images, or furry images. Sigh.

Will the wonder and spectacle of Barbakoo and all the strange, new and unsettling feelings she was experiencing ever since the raid overwhelm Shining Cloud? It's also posted in many other places on the Web, but ExquisiteSlave posted the sauce so they get the credit. And speaking of credit, the naked slave is played by Amy, from this photoshoot on OutdoorBondage.com.

This is simply a great image. It's a photoshop manip and based on other images by Hellene Popodopolous, and judging from Hellene's other work on Exquisite Slave, the theme is very much black women dominating white women in slavery-type situations. Which does not interest me, one way of the other.

When I first saw the image, I thought the reason I liked it was that it was just so well done. I thought it was a photo the first time I saw it, it fooled me. It looked like an SLR camera photo with a very narrow depth of field, so that the figures in the foregrouns are sharp and clean and the ones in the background are blurry. In fact the background photo that these images are pasted into was probably taken with an SLR, otherwise the creator had to somehow paste in that sharply focused pile of rocks and wooden stick to match the sharp focus of the figures in the foreground.

But if you take a good look at Nekkid Amy's toes (and I know that some of you will) you'll see that her left foot just isn't right.It shows evidence of being carelessly blurred when everything else in the same focal plane is sharp and clear. 

It did take me a long time to notice that, and I didn't really understand the picture's real impact for a while. The thing about the image is, it's so prosaic. It presents an everyday street scene convincingly. It's not dramatic, it's not a bright sunny day or the dark of night. It's just an rainy, overcast day. Nobody is paying attention to the naked woman on the leash and the black woman looking great in drag who holds her leash. It creates an alternate world where sights like this are normal, everyday, routine.

It's a convincing image from an alternate world where beautiful naked sex slaves are delivered via Federal Express. It implies a world where sex slavery is routine, normal and fun. It's a subversive image that appears to be merely pornographic at first glance.

In a previous post I talked about the way pornographic images on the Web have quietly but very effectively given the lie to mainstream media's claims about what's sexy, shocking, wild and raunchy, simply by presenting uncensored images of actual sex. The images persuade people without the aid of text or even context. Whenever most people see a mainstream image that's supposed to be sexually wild their subconscious minds are aware that's a lie because almost everyone has seen hard core porn, and male people have generally seen a LOT of hardcore porn, though few will admit to it.

Same here, really. Images like the one here demonstrate that a different sort of world is possible.

As do many of my stories. Game knows game!

The Pet Shop Girls Trilogy: Publishing Tomorrow For The Memorial Day Weekend

I made a hard run at finding the origins of this image and had no luck, because it is all over the Internet and has about lebenty-million different origins listed. The image shows up frequently as a Dutch nude, so there's a pretty good probability that the model is Dutch, but no certainty. Also might be named Alina or See Zeeder, though I did some searches for Dutch nudes with those names and came up with lots of responses on "Alina" but none that looked like this model. If anybody has lead on the origins, drop a line in the comments. In any event, what a look that model has! Totally smitten! Either she's a topnotch model or she REALLY likes the photographer.

Came up with a new promo for Sword and Submission. Looking for that image that will reach into the subconscious of my readers and drag them to my books. I think this one might be effective. I’ve been thinking about exploring a new niche, something I could do well that had a pretty good fan base. So I asked myself, what is the most successful BDSM erotica to date? The answer, obviously, was “Fifty Shades of Gray.” 70 million copies worldwide in one year, it dwarfs even MY sales! By about 70 million copies! I mean, everything I’ve sold on Smashwords would be a tiny rounding error compared with 70 million copies.

There are also John Norman’s Gor novels to consider. (Norman is still with us as of this writing, he’ll be 94 this year. Way to go, guy!)

The Gor novels are not nearly as successful as “Fifty Shades of Gray” all 38 of them having sold only 6 to 12 million copies over the 58 years they have been on sale. And that’s quite a range, 6 to 12 million copies. Still, even if you go with the low end of the range, 6 million copies, in comparison all of my sales at Smashwords are, once again, rounding errors, just slightly larger rounding errors, not enough to matter, still.

So obviously, if I were to come up with a way to combine the success of “Fifty Shades of Gray” and the Gor novels, sales of such a book might be a lot rounder than my other books, at the very least!

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present to you my latest novel, “Sword and Submission!”

It’s not on sale yet, but it will be on Friday. And yes, it is a combination of “Fifty Shades of Gray” and a Gor novel. Not any Gor novel in particular. I suppose the closest analogue would be the stories about Talena, daughter of the ruler of Ar and hence a Gorean princess. She, too gets captured and enslaved, though not nearly as explicitly as Princess Zindra in “Sword and Submission” does.

(Norman has his flaws as a writer but he is excellent at letting readers know just exactly what sexual things are going on without any explicit scenes or language whatsoever. It’s called writing “fantasy fuel” and Norman does it about as well as anyone. One of his best is a scene in “Dancer of Gor” where the titular slavegirl character’s virginity is auctioned off to 17 lucky winners at a tavern one night, and she winds up hooded, naked and chained in an alcove, unable to see the 17 men who “take her virginity.” He never explicitly describes any of the sex, but makes it very clear she gets her brains fucked out good and proper, all while hooded and chained in various ways.)

I am well qualified to attempt this project. I have read “Fifty Shades of Gray” and I have read 30 books in the Gor series. (OK, most of the later books I skimmed over the parts where he goes off on a rant about “antibiological sex” and other such stuff, because those rants last for page after page and are both tiresome and the same every time, occurring several times in each novel, generally in conjunction with one of his fantasy fuel sex scenes which I did NOT skim over.)

I know my material very well.

In my story everything is more explicit. But also much more romantic than anything in “Fifty Shades” or any “Gor” novel. The romance is not just emotional, it’s sexual. The sexual attraction between Princess Zindra and Faswik, one of King Horth’s warriors, is intertwined with the emotional attachment between them. It’s a real romance, a sexual romance and a BDSM romance. It’s a very different BDSM romance because it’s playing out in a time when chattel slavery was full integrated into society and the BDSM aspects of it were not recognized or understood.

I did a fair amount of thinking about that aspect of my story. I had three levels of slave sex to deal with: the BDSM understanding of it that a modern reader and I would have, the primeval chattel slavery that existed in Zindra’s Canoris and the slightly more advanced slavery that existed in Horth’s Zandor.

It was easy to work with the difference between Zandorian slavery and Canorian slavery. I just let the characters note the difference between how Zandorian slaves were treated and how Canorian slaves were treated. For dealing with our modern understanding of BDSM slavery, I had a hole card: the ancients recognized love slavery, or something like it.

So there  was a special class of slavery called “love slavery” that was recognized by both Zandorians and Canorians as a special kind of slavery that involved emotional as well as sexual relations between Master and slave. Which of course happens between Zindra and Faswik (but only after Zindra got raped a lot so she could experience regular slave sex).

Zindra didn’t recognize the nonconsenxual slave sex as rape and neither did the Masters who raped her so much. They would have said it was not rape because Zindra was a slave so she could not be raped, only used. Zindra would only recognize the indignity of the rape as part of the catastrophe of going from princess to slave, if she felt it as an indignity at all. As you will know if you read the book, there will be many distractions for Zindra.

I tried to give Zindra and all the characters a primitive understanding of the world, calmly accepting things that would alarm and even horrify modern readers. Even relatively advanced Zandorians accepted slavery and fucking slaves whether they liked it or not as perfectly normal and OK activities for everyone but the slaves, whose opinions on that or any topic didn’t matter unless the free chose to care about them.

As a princess, Zindra had never stopped to think if there were any positive aspects to slavery because it didn’t matter. It someone had pressed her on the topic she would have just said they got pleasure from serving others, especially noble others like herself. The usual self-serving, facile bullshit that the ruling classes have engaged in throughout history.

So she gets totally blindsided by her experience of slavery, especially with Faswik.

I won’t go any farther along those or any lines, lest I give too much away. I wrote the book about Zindra and Faswik's experiences. You should read it!
