The Mystery of Deviant Art Fans

This is my second most popular upload to my public-facing Deviant Art site, "A Cry of Surrender Heard in the Dungeons." Over 12,000 views to date. Twenty "Favorites" (viewers who like you work can add it to their Favorites section, which displays the image on their site, and includes link so viewers can visit my site) and three comments. It's one of the least artsy of my images, the imagery on the woman's face is very loose, almost impressionistic. Still, I can understand why people like it. It's simply done, but the woman's body and face have a real passion and tension to them. Her pose and expression would be entirely appropriate if the man behind her binding her arms (such as her arms are, more really loose work) was instead fucking her standing doggie style. I also think my title for the image was fire.

This one is called "After the Dance" as in, "After the dance comes the fucking of the dancer."

This image is in ways very similar to the one above. Once again a man is behind a woman who is in bondage, his body pressed against hers as he holds her bound arms. It's MUCH more graphically sophisticated than the image above it. The facial expressions are much stronger than the above image, I especially like the way the head harness panel gag on the woman came out. Civitai frequently fucks up even simple ballgags, a gag rendered this well  is vaguely miraculous. All I can figure is that the looser rendering of the top image gives the slave's facial expression more emotional intensity. With her mouth hidden by the gag her expression is more, how shall we say, restrained?

Anyway, 5,500 or so views on this image, less than half of what the top image got. 18 Favorites (nearly as many as the top image got) so proportinately twice as many people who saw this image liked it enough to Favorite it. And two comments.

All I can think is that the higher emotional intensity of the first image, and the fact that the slavegirl was fully naked helped a lot. An awful lot. (That bra was unasked-for and a bad idea, but Civitai does hate nudity, it's a constant struggle even in relatively uncensored Civitai models.) On the other hand, if you look closely at the lower picture, you'll see that the guy's "shorts" are strangely hiked up in the middle. It's almost like he's wearing a short dress instead of shorts, like the guys wore in those old gladiator movies (aka peplum). Which means what COULD be making his dress tent is his cock, because he's actively fucking the woman he's holding. My preferred explanation, but I'm guessing most casual viewers didn't catch that bit.

In short, I have no idea why some images work and other don't... but I'm paying attention, and I'm learning.

The art for the slavegirl at top started life as a Second Live avatar used for the cover of my Junie Jamieson novel. Then she went through some iterations on Tensor Art which include a promo video of her dancing. The image for the Deviant Art piece was a vidcap for that video, which you can see right here on another blogpost.

AI Art Programs And Malicious Compliance

Let's talk about AI blunders in NSFW art.

My DeviantArt fans need to know just how hard it is to get usable NSFW art out of Civitai and other AI art programs. Let me make it clear: I an using Civitai because it is by far the best platform for creating NSFW images, IMHO. That's because it is virtually the ONLY platform that allows model and lora creators to develop models and loras to create NSFW images. Deviant Art is not interested in policing creators beyond not allowing them to create outright illegal art.

Here we are. Naked. Gagged. Bound. Vibrator on/in pussy. But also, three hands. Foot from nowhere. Two out of three hands hoplessly mangled. A fairly common result when you seek to create NSFW images.

But since Civitai is the platform I use, it's the source of most of my blunders. It's not the fault of censorship deliberately blocking NSFW imagery as it is on other sites, it's the fault of models and loras that just don't quite get all the little details right.

This is the sort of image that makes me use the term "malicious compliance." Woman being proneboned on a bed while bound and gagged. Face and gag beautifully done. Cock entering woman's butt at the right angle. Wonderfully done! Until you notice the man's forearm has merged with the woman'd upper arm. She's also been given ANOTHER right arm that is tied to a big chunk of flesh that goes... nowhere? What the hell? It's like they gave the image all the sexy I asked for, but didn't bother with details like... arms. And hands. 

More malicious compliance. Beautifully done image of a slavegirl in bondage being anally fucked. A few tiny mistakes: rope that disappears behind the guy's cock, the whole wrist bondage thing, but maybe fixable. But then what the hell is that black plastic thing in her anus that he's sticking his cock into? I don't know, and I don't WANT to know! 

It's a naked, bound woman giving a blowjob allright, but it's three-breasted, three-armed Suzy Longtorso! With a pink vibrator on her chin!

I decided at some point to go for something completely different, so I asked for a happy, healthy, naked native tribe having an orgy in a jungle clearing while spaceships flew overhead. Jungle: check! Spaceships: check! Orgy: I got a bunch of naked Europeans including Suzy Longleg and some background people that don't bear looking at, standing around like they've just been discovered and are posing for a photo. Orgy: none. Of course!  

The only point of this post is to let my Deviant Art fans know about all the winnowing and work we have to do to create a winner. Totally worth it when we do, though.

AI Art Fix-Up: Before And After

When I was preparing my image files for my Deviant Art site, I came across quite a few images that would have worked for the site, but they needed a bit of work, so I put them in a folder called "Easily Fixable" as I sorted.  The "before" pic is from my Easily Fixable folder as is. I used an SL avatar in a submission pose and then ran it through Civitai asking for a picture of a busy city street with her on it, along with other people walking around. I was hoping for something a little more paved, but this was still an intriguing image.

The first difference between the before and after pics is that the "after" pic looks a lot brighter. The colors seem to pop more. This is not unusual with AI art: it gets the dynamic range of the colors in an image wrong. Fortunately, it's a very easy fix in GIMP.

Then there's the ropes and straps hanging down between her legs. They don't make any sense visually, they don't connect with the rest of the figure in any logical way, so I replace them with background art, a little more troublesome than changing the lighting with a slider, but not difficult really. Note: I did leave in the plastic vibrator controller underneath her. Adds a nice "vibe" to the pic!

There was also the little square thing atop her butt. It looks like maybe it's the end of a dildo, but it's at the wrong angle for a dildo. It looks more like the top of a periscope. Well whatever it was, it looked like the visual equivalent of noise, so out it went. I replaced it with background art, much more easily than the leather straps between her legs.

Finally, there was one little thing. A finger, to be exact. The figure's right had was gifted with an extra finger by Civitai. This was by far the trickiest fix. I had to create a new outline of the wrist, extend the ropes around her wrist, and merge them with the background. Fortunately there were a lot of shadows, and those shadows, they do hide a lot of sins.

Premium Tier Now Open on My Deviant Art Site

I've got my first premium tier up on my Deviant Art site up and running for Memorial Day. 18 hi-res images with more coming soon.In fact, the image you see above is one of them, except it's a low-res jpeg like most of the images on my blog. It's not a 4K PNG file like all the images in my premium tier, including this one. 

I encountered some censorship issues with the artwork, but the REAL censorship issues came with the text. Deviant Art has chosen to allow digital art on their platform and as a result there's been a real onslaught of artists and art lovers, making the platform more profitable, probably a LOT more successful. Just like traditional artists, digital artists chafe at censorship of any sort and constantly try the limits of any censorship regimen that gets imposed on them.

So what I WANTED to talk about in this photo was a little scenario roughly based on a scene in the story I was promoting with it, "So This Is My Life Now," a sexual fantasy of the protagonists' where she is a cop on the tail of a member of the Lesbian Jannissaries of the Thongan Resistance, who gets captured by the resistance jannisary and hauled over to her lair in the Thongan Resistance section of town, to be her sex slave. On the way to her home, her captor is overcome with lust and in a very busy corridor, she ties the protagonist to a table and bends her over it and rapes her thoroughly with a strap-on in full sight of all the passers-by. Sounds very non-consensual, but as it is part of the sexual fantasy of the protagonist, it's not really. This is JUST the sort of nuance that censorship regimens entirely miss, however. (No one should HAVE the wrong sexual fantasies, anyway!)

So I had to post some relatively feeble stuff in the image's "description" field, to wit: "She was a corporate HR person in one life, a captured slave to a Jannisary of the Thongan Resistance in another. And any escape attempt left her subject to deliciously harsh penalties!"

The blunders and mildly crappy ones are being filtered out by me even as we speak. (The REALLY crappy ones that are also funny WILL be posted.) I look forward to entertaining people there!

Winning Bondage Image!

Here's a link to a bondage image that won Best Photo in the Erotic Signature contest. It's got all the Fine Art photo stuff going ... subtle work with texture and lighting, but then there's a jolt of erotic power that comes from the bound arms and the naked butt kind of sneaking up on you.

I've seen photos that won fine art contests before, and I'm often puzzled as to why they won. This one is an obvious winner.
