"Empire of Love" Is Now On Amazon!
![]() |
| Click here or on the cover art to get whisked away to Amazon, where you can get the book free if you have Kindle Unlimited. Just $2.99 if not. Writing as Barry Anderson, I've written a third book in the Collar World series which includes The Visitor from Incel World and The Love Invasion. Like the other two novels, it's not erotica (no explicit sex scenes) it's adult SF adventure. However, I have taken the lessons of John Norman to heart and placed plenty of fantasy fuel in the story. Hopefully everyone will lurve it. Or at least love it! Here's the blurberino! |
When Collar World’s time monitors discover a new timeline, they quickly realize they need out-of-the-box thinking and they need it fast. A brutal Old West theocracy on the alternate timeline, the Empire of Luvala, is hanging slaves for little or no reason, and with horrifying frequency.
So naturally the call goes out to the Laguna Beach Ladies’ Investigation Bureau, i.e., Nitro Wilde and Moxie Maven. After all, they helped head off a crosstime war between Incel World and Collar World when their timelines intermingled. And all they’re asked to do is sit in a conference room in Collar World and help come up with ideas to end the murderous reign of the Luvalans on Earth 4 (the newly discovered timeline) as quickly and with as little violence as possible. Given enough time, the Collar Worlders could probably end the hangings with no violence at all. But every day’s delay means more innocent slaves will be brutalized and hanged. The clock is ticking and the sound is the fall of bodies through a gallows door. Unfortunately, there was more going on on Earth 4 than meets the eye, and soon Moxie is struggling for her life while the leadership on Collar World may decide to abandon Earth 4 and everyone on it in the face of the possible destruction of Collar World itself! It’s another exciting alternate world adventure that will keep you riveted as lives and the fates of worlds hang in the balance, as well as the fate of one innocent native American. This 75,000 word novel is part of the Incel World series that began with “The Visitor from Incel World” and continues with “The Love Invasion” and this novel. |

"Bound for Bebop City" Is Now on Sale on Amazon and Smashwords
Click here to get the book on Smashwords.
Here's the short blurb:
Sweet, virginal Mincy lives in alternate timeline in the 1950s where everyone’s into sexual bondage and a drug called nersha renders teens uninterested in sex. But when they're taken off nersha after their 18th birthdays, the teens turn into frenzied sex maniacs, filled with animal need. How will Mincy cope with the mad passion driving her to submit sexually to a Master? Who will that Master be?
The 1950s was a profoundly weird period in American history. Supposedly it is the era that is nearest and dearest to the hearts of American cultural conservatives. It predated women’s liberation, the civil rights movement and the hippie movement, all of which they still despise.
Women were still mostly homemakers – even though many of them had had the experience of working in industrial and corporate jobs during World War II when so many American men were busy being machine gun fodder. And black people were out of sight and out of mind.
The role of women was so constrained that there’s a subniche of BDSM called “1950s domestic discipline” that exists, though I don’t think it’s huge. (I don’t think it’s huge because when I checked keywords on Amazon for “retro domestic discipline” I only got eight hits. When I searched for “1950s domestic discipline” I only got 34 hits: better but not exactly a landslide. However, the keywords “domestic discipline” (which I think is just code for spanking) got over 10,000 hits on Amazon. But I think that covers spankings from all time periods, within the context of a husband/wife relationship.
In any event, here’s a scholarly paper on 1950s domestic discipline which covers the topic well.
A lot was going on under the hood of the 1950s that would lead to all the things conservatives hate. This was most especially true in the areas of music and dance. While the older adults in the 1950s were still hung up on standards and leftover big band music the young kids were getting with the “race music” the early rocknroll songs that would soon rule the popular music scene. (It was called “race music” by some because it was a genre created mostly by black musicians. First jazz, now rocknroll… it drove the racists nuts.)
That’s part of the point of the dance hall scene at Pop’s Sodium Shoppe, to show rocknroll creeping in as the Bloomed (those who have gone off nersha and had their sexuality restored) dirty danced to the early rocknroll while the unbloomed shuffle danced to modern electro rock.
I chose modern shuffle dancing because I find it a joyful and expressive dance but not particularly sexual – an asexual sort of dance, still full of emotion and pleasure, though. Here’s a video of a great shuffle dance to “Lost in the Rhythm,” an electro-swing hit. (If you just search for “shuffle dance” you’ll find a lot of dances that incorporate sexy moves like twerking into the dance. They’re dances but not really shuffle dances.)
As for the Bloomed dancing, I was thinking of something like this scene from Dirty Dancing only with more acrobatics, lots of nudity and some actual fucking.
Much of my portrayal of the aesthetics of the 50s is informed various books on the topic, but you can easily get a feel for the imagery of the era by doing an image search for “Fifties Aesthetic.”
My initial idea for the story was to put a new spin on first time stories by having puberty delayed until age 18 but then have it hit like a runaway freight train, and how does a society cope with that? Everything else spun off from that central idea. I hope you enjoy it… I enjoyed writing it, though it was tough.

"How My Slave Girl Found Me" -- Brand New Novella, Now on Amazon and Smashwords.
Here's the Amazon Link for the book.
Here's the Smashwords Link. A 22,000+ word novella for just $2.99.
I'm releasing this one on both Amazon and Smashwords at the same time, a new approach for me. Normally I've been going with Kindle Unlimited on Amazon, which gets me paid for page reads by Kindle Unlimited subscribers, but at the cost of publishing ONLY on Amazon for at least three months. But I haven't seen that much action from Kindle Unlimited, and I've seen a lot of action on Smashwords, so I'm "going wide" as publishers call it.
This is one of those stories that was inspired by a picture. This picture, of porn actress, model and producer Pepper Hart:
Pepper Hart, from a video shoot for FTVMILFS.com.
And you have to admit, that’s one hell of a picture. Just look at the expression on Pepper’s face, combined with the raw carnality of her ass and the glamorous modern beauty with which she presents herself.
But mostly, it’s that expression. Here’s how I wrote it up in the novel (it’s not a key scene, no real spoiler here):
>It was the combination of the raw sexuality of her pink pussy display and the totally relaxed, confident, unashamed expression on her face that worked away at my mind. Finally, later that night when I sat at home staring at my computer screen, unable to write because I couldn’t think of anything else but that vision, I finally got it.
>I’d gotten the look on her face all wrong. I had mistaken it for some kind of animalistic reserve, some rare sense of herself that others didn’t possess. That wasn’t it, that wasn’t it at all. I mean, she really did not have a single fuck to give, that was true. But that was because she’d given all her fucks to Michael, literally. She was his creature. As long as she was doing what Michael wanted her to, she was doing the right thing. Always. She had no inhibitions, no doubts, no worries. Those all belonged to Michael now. She hadn’t mastered herself, she’d given herself away.
>And as the Buddha observed, those who escape the burden of self find Nirvana. Her expression, her indefinable way of carrying herself that hinted at incredible peace and tranquility, was the expression of someone who had found Nirvana, looking out at the world. People might call it self-possession, but what it actually was was other-possession. She had given herself to Michael. Literally, and what was left was a creature that utterly lived by Michael’s rules, and thrived that way.
That’s a lot to pin on an expression in a photograph, but that’s the writing game for ya.
Heeere's da blurb:
When I assumed that a woman co-worker who wore bondage jewelry all the time was a submissive and into bondage, I made a mistake. The result was a date that didn't turn out as I had hoped. But as a direct result of that mistake I met Sabrina Parker, another co-worker who was a world-class beauty with what I called ‘the Nirvana look’ to her. Thanks to my friendship with Sabrina, I soon experienced the night of my life, a night filled with kinky public sex and fun and play in a BDSM orgy that went beyond even my wildest fantasies.
And I met the woman of my dreams that night as well. I was her tall drink of water, she was my wonderful thing that came in a small package. It was truly a night that turned into a lifetime.
Sometimes a mistake can be more rewarding than success.
This novella is a kinky contemporary erotic romance that includes an HEA, a dominant alpha male, a bevy of submissive beauties, public bondage, nudity and sex, and more fun than you can (or should) shake a stick at. It’s over 22,000 words long and full of maledom/femsub fun.

Why Did I Write A Parody Of the EarthCent Ambassador Series?
I have not done any parodies before, though it's very clear I like humor and I read a LOT. Almost all of my stories have been completely original works, no fannish stuff among them. I have my own stories to tell, thankyewverymuch, and although I've taken some humorous jabs at this and that, I've never outright parodied anything.
And like most parodists, I'm a fan of what I'm parodying. I've read and enjoyed the entire EarthCent Ambassador series. But the definition of “parody” explains why I did it: “a parody targets or mimics an original work to make a point.” And I wrote “Late Nights At Onion Station” to make a point about something that bothered me about the original work: its libertarianism. I'm more of a socialist.
The libertarianism in the Earthcent Ambassador series is very subtle, well buried in the story. But once you see it, you can't unsee it: the EarthCent Ambassador series is a pure libertarian fantasy at heart. There are little clues: the protagonist, despite being the chief representative of humans on Union Station, is paid very little money, so little that she lives in a slummy area of the human sector of Union Station and has to save up money to buy a comfy chair.
Why is she paid so little despite her important government position? Because she's a government official, of course, and government is not important in libertarian fantasy land. While the protagonist of Union Station makes so little money that the food at diplomatic receptions is an important part of her diet, all her friends and acquaintances who are independent businesspeople make huge amounts of money from their activities. They can't do anything at all without making huge piles of money. Because they're independent entrepreneurs, you see: the good guys.
As a socialist, this was annoying, but what was REALLY annoying was the usual libertarian obliviousness to the fate of those who don't work out well in his paradise. This is in face my major problem with libertarianism in general: their focus is always on those who succeed in libertarian society, with a general feeling that almost anyone can succeed if you put forth a little effort, gosh darn it!
Most libertarians, in fact, have little or no interest in what happens to those who don't do well in their libertarian fantasy. Often you get a sense that they would be fine with people who aren't good bargainers in the free and open markets starving to death and dying, that they would happily kick their bodies aside on their way to the bank.
You can see this by the way libertarian authors focus on the successes in their stories and ignore the losers. The successful entrepreneurs who make scads of money and get loads of power in their lives are the FUN part of the libertarian fantasy. Of course that's who gets all the attention in a libertarian story.
But if you don't pay attention to what happens to all the other people in your society, you're basically building a hell on Earth, and honestly, that's what I think most libertarians are doing. They don't WANT to create a hell on Earth, any more than the original Communists wanted to create the Soviet Union from Imperial Russia, but as the Soviet Union demonstrated (and China) if you're at all sloppy in thinking about how you get to your paradise, you can so very, very easily wind up with a dictatorship or an oligarchy that commits crimes against humanity without so much as blinking.
And libertarians are even worse than Communists in this respect. They really, really don't want to deal seriously with the hard part of their fantasy, which is how do you handle the people who don't do so well in the free and open marketplace? The phrase “ideological blinders” was invented for this phenomenon. Libertarians are like architects who want to build a skyscraper that will truly scrape the clouds, but have little or no interest in building a solid foundation.
The problem is, when you look at any group of human beings statistically, for almost any set of abilities and skills, including success in business, if you graph the results it forms a bell curve, with the bulk of people falling in the middle of the curve, and a considerable portion (half, even!) falling on the wrong side of the halfway mark. That being the case, you need to ensure that your system, whatever it is, provides a decent standard of living to the people who fall on that wrong side, not just the lucky winners.
I think the reason that libertarians aren't willing to address the “ground floor” issues is that it may require making an exception to their rule that every problem can be solved by the invisible hand of an unfettered marketplace.
It might require some crude actions like taxing the very rich and successful (the beneficiaries of the invisible hand) at higher rates to fund housing, food and medical care for the poor. It might require, in short, some form of socialism.
It's time to call the belief that the invisible hand of the marketplace can solve all social problems and allow people to live free of government of any kind what it is: magical thinking.
And that's what really bugs me about libertarians, that they let this magical thinking fuck them up time and time again, because you know, if they took the time and effort to work out how a libertarian society could help the losers in the marketplace, they might just have a robust ideology that could compete successfully with democratic socialism.
But they can't, they won't and they don't, and so they remain a fringe, though a markedly more successful fringe than their ideology deserves, because many parts of it (the economic parts) dovetail very nicely with traditional conservatism. Most especially the part about not giving a rat's ass about losers in their system.
And so you have many, many science fiction books written with this profoundly dumb, magical thinking, wish fulfillment hoo-ha presented as a wonderful basis for a society to exist on.
I found a very nice way to dramatize the problems with libertarianism in the story. I also manage to point out how adherence to libertarian principles makes one inherently blind to the suffering of others. And I ramped it all up to 11, to make it funny. And by damn, it IS funny. Some of the best humor comes from annoyance. I hope you enjoy it.

Enjoy my story "The Night That Christmas Got Real" now free on Amazon through Dec 25. And Merry Christmas!
Hot freebie, coming up! Here's the Amazon USA link! And if you're outside the USA, here's a link to all the Amazon stores in the world!
Da blurb:
Simiyuki Simmons was an Asian-American who was a long way away from her country of origin, culturally and personally. She thought of herself as an all-American California girl. But she also longed to be the right guy's hentai heroine, doing all sorts of kinky, sexy things while totally under his control. Unfortunately, there were an awful lot of wrong guys out there. She had never met one that even came close to being the right one.
Joe Culpepper was a gamer, leading a lonely and impoverished life as an auto parts picker. He was a large, powerfully built man, but was still very shy around women. What if he spoke the truth of his heart to them, that he wanted to dominate them in bed and make them do all sorts of deliciously sexy things? They might think he was pervert. And he wasn't a pervert. He was just kinky.
Christmas magic will have its way with these two, and help them learn that love and trust are the true sources of Christmas joy, in a way that will warm more than their hearts.
This story is 13,500 words long.

Collaring on Collar World: How Censorship Imposes Itself on Art
The biggest whopper I had to tell about Collar World is that teens had to wait until they were 18 years old before they could get collared or collar someone else, and that they eschewed any dating or sexual activity prior to that.
I had to do that because Amazon and most other retailers are not about to sell or distribute (hi, Smashwords!) any erotica that has underage content. It's legally terra incognito for any erotica writer. I don't honestly believe teen characters as a group would hold back from sexual expression of any kind prior to reaching 18, but here we are. Being able to describe the romantic foibles and fumblings of kinky kids sounds like great fun, but not if you're going to get all erotic about it.
To make up for it, once my characters hit 18 and can start collaring one another, they go from 0 to 60, sex-wise. Once a girl reaches that age, she can be collared by any boy (or girl, if both are so inclined) and they both go nuts with the kinky sex. And instead of asking her out on a date, he gets to kidnap her, sneaking up on her, tying her up and taking her home after stopping off at a police kiosk to register it as a collaring rather than a kidnapping.
And that's also how I get around another requirement imposed by the market, the requirement for consensuality, since at the police kiosk the girl has to agree to the collaring for it to proceed. You can't do nonconsensual at all on Amazon, and a lot of other distributors are not gonna touch it, either.
So many legal and marketing choices are disguised as artistic choices. I think it would be a lot more exciting and suspenseful in a story to have the collaring be something more along the lines of a kidnapping, kind of like the old non-erotic romances, where a pirate would kidnap a comely lady, have sex with her without her consent, and then fall in love with her, generally with her consent since she also falls in love with him.
Well in this modern era that won't fly if you include graphic sex scenes, and no amount of falling in love afterward will make up for it!
So off to the police kiosk it is, where a cop records it as a collaring and sometimes a crowd of neighbors watch and “ooh!” and “aah!” at the young lovers. Sometimes even the girl's parents. (“My little girl is growing up -- her first collaring! Sob!”)
All kinds of sly fun to be had there, and I take full advantage of it in my first Collar World story, Stolen Collar, Stolen Heart which is about a girl's first collaring and was the impetus for much of my thought on the topic.
I also have girls subject to this temporary kidnap/collaring up to half a dozen times because they're temporary collars, kind of a dating thing but a LOT more intense since the slavegirl moves in with the guy and wears his collar. (I'm using maledom/femsub nomenclature here, but the same applies for whatever gender pairings comes up.)
After half a dozen tries, generally the girl gets a Temple Collar or an asexual collar, whatever works for her, really, and she has all the time she needs to figure out what she likes. But quite frequently, the first collaring or one soon afterward leads to Collar Climax and the collar becomes permanent. Collar Climax? Well, that's a science fiction psychological aspect of collaring on Collar World that I will be described in another post.
First experience of sex on Collar World: 0 to 60 indeed!

"The Road to Aquibonya" Now on Amazon
Or you can visit my International Bookstore links and find ALL of my books.
I've written another erotica short with an actual plot. When will I learn? But I did include a helluva sex scene. To wit:
People tried to warn the mage Crom Agnon when he bought a dozen Immortal slave girls at the Immortal Gardens slave auction and headed out of town on the Vanyita Trail the next day.
They told him that between the outlaws and the supernatural creatures that infested the woodlands around the trail, and most of all the dozen Immortal slave girls, that he would not survive to see the next day.
But Crom Agnon was no ordinary mage, and he had bought a dozen of the hottest, kinkiest, most dangerous slave girls known to man for a reason. Well, two reasons. One was exactly the reason you'd expect a man to have for buying hot, kinky slave girls. The other, almost rational reason was related to his plan to journey to a remote town in neighboring Aquibonya, where he would face one of the most fearsome supernatural entities known to mankind -- if he lived to get there.
Note: this story contains a sex scene that is almost 10,000 words long. Sex addiction, blindness and hairy palms are NOT the responsibility of the author or the publisher. Also, this story has been infested with humor. You have been warned! You may take such warnings lightly, but being sex addicted, blind, hairy-palmed and laughing your a** off is no way to go through life.
This story is 26,000 words long and exists outside any known universe.
Now go forth, my minions, and buy this book! There are almost 30,000 subscribers on my Reddit.com subreddit! If only HALF of them buy this book, that means I get ... lessee, carry the 2, divide by 7.348, multiply by -1.45 ... LEBENTY MILLION DOLLARS!?! Go forth, my minions! Buy! Buy! Buy! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Why Do The Bluenoses Rage?
Ran across a story about a schoolteacher who bought a student a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey. A private school teacher named Roger Aidoo bought a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey for a 14 year old male student, who had requested the book as part of an extracurricular reading assignment.
The student's mother, Maya Ladson, did not think this was an appropriate thing for the teacher to do, and complained to the school about it. Fair enough, the school administrators hauled Aidoo in, gave him the third degree, and were apparently satisfied with his story that he was not all that familiar with the fact that Fifty Shades of Grey contained lots of explicit BDSMy sex.
Ladson, however, ain't buying it. She wants Aidoo fired. But the administrators, in a rare display of scholarly backbone, aren't firing him over the irate cries of one crazed bluenosed mom.
Here's my take on the story. Buying the kid a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey was a boneheaded move by the teacher. But it's not a firing offense. Hell, any kid with access to a computer can find porn that will make Fifty Shades of Grey look like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. So the appropriate thing to do is to haul Aidoo in and tell him, "That was a really stupid thing to do, and if you do anything remotely like it in the future, we are going to fire you so hard and fast it will make you head spin. Now get out of here, you knucklehead."
The interesting thing is why Lawson's panties got totally bunched up over this. Bluenoses seem to get worked up over sex-related matters orders of magnitude more than regular people do. That's why they have so much influence, I suppose. I suspect that bluenoses are people who have attempted to repress their own sex drives in various ways, and every sexual thing that comes along is just a huge irritant to them, whereas it just does not bother the less sexually repressed. They're pains in the asses and generally useless, and it would be a shame if Mr. Aidoo lost his job because he irritated a bluenose. He would hardly be the first if he did, however.

Star Wars BDSM Gear -- But No Slave Leia Gear!

"I guess this must be the part of the Force that penetrates you ..." Image source: little something I made up on Second Life.
And the mainstreaming of BDSM continues, with an Etsy crafts group called Geek Kink introducing a whole line of Star Wars themed BDSM gear. Light saber floggers! Light saber canes! Printed silk Darth Vader themed restraints! Empire Strikes Back paddles! I found out about it when my flying monkeys brought in a story about it on I09, which may lose its "mainstream" media papers if they keep this sort of thing up.
The thing I found most notable about the story was the total lack of Slave Leia paraphernalia. I mean, COME ON!!! You're making Star Wars themed kink toys and you take NO advantage of Slave Liea? What the hell are you thinking, Geek Kink people? I mean, I would suspect maybe they are afraid of legal challenges from Disney, which, let's face it, is known for such challenges. But if you have prints of Darth Vader on your restraints, you're just as liable as if you have a Slave Leia set of cuffs.
I mean, Slave Leia gags! Slave Leia buttplugs! Slave Leia armbinders! Slave Leia metal bikini sex harnesses! I KNOW they must have thought of it. The really interesting question is, why didn't they DO it?

"Yeah, why no Slave Liea gear, GeekKink? Inquiring minds want to know! A LOT of inquiring minds! Image source: LeiasMetalBikini.com.

Slave Harems of Xhagia Series By Teagan Rand Reviewed

Chained, collared and wearing a boustier ... soon to be a very sticky boustier! Image source: Cover of "A Slave Girl for the Emperor" the first book in the four-part Slave Harems of Xhagia series.
I am a sucker for combining fantasy/science fiction themes and bondage themes, let's just put that right out there. Anybody who has read almost all of the Gor novels can reasonably be suspected of being that.
THAT must be why I've read all four of Teagan Rand's “Slave Harems of Xhagia” books, because I DEFINITELY never intended to read all of them. I just planned to buy that first book and move on. Well to be honest, the REAL reason, and as an erotica writer I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but it's true and I gotta keep it real … I got hooked on the plot. Between an arresting and interesting plot, an intriguing universe and a smooth writing style that makes turning the pages very, very easy, I got hooked.
Set in the not too distant future, Slave of the Emperor and its successor books deals with the adventures of Christine Berenger, one of many women who have been kidnapped by slavers of a vast interstellar empire known as the Xhagian Empire, to serve as slavegirls in the harems and bordellos of Xhagia.
OK, I hear you already … I thought the same thing myself … “Another damn story of aliens who want our Earth women … what the hell … well it IS porn … er, erotica ...”
But here is where Teagan Rand proves she is made of better stuff than your average pornifier. Tuns out the Xhagians and humans are both descendents of an ancient race called the Valk who died out about 25 million years ago, and seeded the galaxy with a variety of humanoid races for some mysterious reason that's essential to the plot – and no, this review will not contain any spoilers, this is all established early on.
So the cross-species attraction is understandable, as is the fact that Xhagian males are taller, handsomer versions of Earthmen … they're basically both subspecies of the Valk.
What's more, Valk males and Earth females find each other tremendously sexually attractive ... also for reasons that are essential to the plot.
This is what really made me sit up and take notice of Rand's books. Instead of using the science fiction background as the thinnest of tissues to hold together her story of the romance between Christine and the Xhagian slaver Dalgaz Tav, and all the hot slavegirl sex that she and the other slaves have with him and other handsome Xhagian men, Rand thought her background through in such a way that it's essential to and supports the story, making it stronger.
This is a good thing because although the Slave Harems of Xhagia series is FULL of submissive slavegirly goodness, and includes some bondage, its central fetish is, well ... bukkake. Bukkake is not a fetish I enjoy, nor is it ever likely to become one, I mean .... YECH! But it seems that the sperm of Xhagians has some property that renders Earth slaves orgasmicallly ecstatic for prolonged periods, and it only takes contact with the skin to make this orgasmy goodness manifest itself. And the Xhagian men produce lots and lots of sperm, much more than Earth men. They also have a very short refractive period and like to have sex a LOT.
Think of them as the the male equivalent of the big-breasted bimbos who want to have sex with everyone as soon as possible who show up in male porn. And the sperm of Xhagian men is so powerful and effective on human female psyches that its effects are ninety percent of what it takes to transform the captive Earth women into lust-bedazzled sex sluts, reduced to panting wanton slavegirls without much need for lashing or punitive treatment of any kind. It's all about the sperm, baby!
What's more, the Xhagian men find the Earth women VERY attractive, more attractive in fact than Xhagian females, who are only interested in sex when they are fertile and ready to conceive children. And instead of being jealous, the Xhagian women are pleased that the Earth women are keeping their men from being all sexually wound up when the Xhagian women are not interested in sex, which is basically, most of the time.
And of course, the Slave Harems of Xhagia books are essentially romances. Dalgaz Tav, the male lead, is that rarest of all creatures, a slaver with a heart of gold. He might be charged with picking out the prettiest Earth women kidnapped by Xhagian slavers for the Emperor's harem and transforming them into total hose beasts for use by the Emperor, but he CARES about those women, by gum. He and Christine soon develop strong feelings for one another, but can a romance between the top slaver in the Xhagian Empire and a lowly human slavegirl really work out? I'll never tell … read the books if you want to find out!
Keeping the Emperor's and others' harems and bordellos full is why the Xhagian slavers constantly raid Earth for women to stock their harems and bordellos, but it's germane to the plot in more than one way, for there is a mysterious relationship between Earth humans and Xhagians that plays out over the course of the four books in the series that is essential to the plot.
This is what really impresses me about Rand's writing. There are a lot of erotica writers who can write a convincing sex scene, but most miss out on the tremendous potential of science fiction and fantasy to make erotic stories more powerful and believable. She worked out the way the genetics and customs of the Xhagians and humans affect her characters and her story and makes it work FOR the story, sometimes in surprising ways. This is a hallmark of good science fiction and fantasy writing, when the writer does not use their fantastic or futuristic plot elements merely as props for the story but works out how they would affect their world.
Larry Niven is a great example of this. He predicted flash mobs before they happened, because he envisioned a society that had instant communications and instant transportation because they had teleporters, and he wondered how that would affect how ordinary people behaved. He decided they'd use them to form crowds out of nowhere just for fun and parties. And of course, flash mobs are people who use cell phones out of nowhere, they just use more mundane transportation.
Niven's thinking-through of his futuristic ideas even on aspects that aren't central to the plot is what characterizes really great science fiction, it adds a very nice density and richness to your story.
And Rand's thinking through of the different sexuality and genetics and culture of the Xhagians add nicely to her series. I wish she had thought the Xhagians through in other respects, they're basically technically advanced ancient Romans in outer space in other respects, which does make the story seem a little thin at times.
There's just one element where Rand falls down in terms of world-building, and its' a pet peeve of mine, so I'm going to have to bring it up though I doubt it will matter much to most readers. Rand's Xhagian Empire features a heredity emperor presiding over a court full of nobles who scheme to become Emperor themselves, generally without success.
Now, see … interstellar empires and heredity aristocracies just don't go well together. If you are going to have an interstellar empire ruled by an hereditary aristocracy set in the distant future, you need to explain why a civilization so technically advanced is being run by a type of government that is clearly archaic even to a bunch of planetbound types like us contemporary Earthlings.
I mean, believing that the best man to govern is automatically going to be the firstborn son of the current ruler implies a certain ignorance of genetics, y.know?
I'm not saying you can't HAVE aristocracies running interstellar empires, I'm saying gimme some handwaving, baby. You know, something along the lines of “although the Xhagians were well aware of the problems posed by succession in an hereditary aristocracy, all other forms of government had proven unworkable due to the Xhagian males' fierce competitiveness, which quickly transformed any government based on merit, popularity or other objective standard into a festering hellhole ruled by paranoid warlords. Aristocracies were stupid, but they weren't as stupid as chaotic hellholes full of rival warlords. It was a matter of government by lesser evil.”
Was that so hard?
In addition to all this, there are hints that Christine is not the simple kidnapped slave girl she seems to be. She has memories of her childhood on Earth, but she has no memory of how she came to be captured in the raid of the Xhagian slavers, or of the days leading up to those events, though there are disturbing dreams that may point to an answer. And there's a religious cult that is gaining power that thinks the way the human slave girls are being treated by the Xhagians is all wrong … they think they should be treated considerably worse!
Rand, in short, really knows how to stir a plot and keep it going, and can write a pretty good slavegirly submissive sex scene. To be fair, for about half of book three and almost all of book four I kind of skimmed the sex scenes, because1) I'm not into bukkake and 2) there's little or no bondage and 3) not all that much slavegirliness stuff to interest me and 4) the plot had cut in big time and that was what I was really interested in.
Frankly, the Xhagian sperm has the effect of making all the slavegirls so happy and eager to have sex with Xhagian men that you kind of get the impression they'd be paying the Xhagian men to have sex with them if they had any money. This eliminates some of the dramatic tension you have in bondage and BDSM, which was especially a problem in the first and second books when the plot had not fully cut in, and so the books were kind of dull until the plot really got rolling in the last half of the second book. (The set up for the world, the society, Christine's situation, etc., keeps you going easily enough through the first book).
I guess what I am saying is, I would have liked to have seen Christine and the other harem slaves struggling more with their new status as slavegirls, despite the effect of Xhagian sperm on their psyches. Hell, have them seriously puzzled and disturbed by what is happening to them. (Christine does have issued with her enslavement, as do the other harem slaves, but not enough to make the harem girls' experience seem all that slavish … it's more like they are a bunch of happy consensual bukkake fetishists who occasionally have a brief doubt about what they are doing. Not exactly the stuff of sex slavery.)
That said, Slave Harems of Xhagia is still a fine series of erotic books. The four books in the series cost just $2.50 each in their Kindle editions, and they run to about 2000-2300 Kindle pages each, which of course are not the same as paperback pages. I'm not sure if it was a long novella or a short novel I read, but I definitely didn't feel shorted, because it was a fun ride and it took a while.
I would say that if you like bukkake as a fetish, buy this book NOW. You could not spend your entertainment dollar more wisely.
If you like generally sexy science fiction, also a very good use of your two bucks fifty, because these books are that. On a stick.
If you like sexy slavegirl themes with a strong element of romance, but aren't into the whole heavy bondage thing, these books are also likely to be winners for you. (The slavegirl themes are undoubtedly what kept me reading because …)
If you like bondage, the books are more problematical, there just isn't that much of it. True, the slavegirls are often thoroughly bound and gagged when they are transported from one location to another, and a couple of passages make it clear that the slavegirls are taught to serve while in restraints, but they don't do a hell of a lot of serving while in restraints or being restrained while not serving. I'd still risk the $2.50 on the first book. The sexy slavegirliness might work for you, too.
If you like bondage with a strong element of drama, with the slave girl fighting it all the way, including fighting her own feelings … these books might not be your cuppa.
All that said, I may not be the best guide for this books' intended audience, as they are definitely romances and I'm a guy. But they're definitely sexy enough to be in the zone of erotica a guy would enjoy reading. I've given you my honest reactions to the books to the best of my ability, which is about all I can do. Read the books and decide for yourself!
And for Teagan Rand, I've got just one bit of advice, perhaps self-serving but I think absolutely accurate: Bukkake just is NOT that popular a fetish. If you want to sell more books, try working a more popular fetish. May I suggest bondage? Fifty Shades of Grey sold seventy million copies, and your books could be the books all those women turn to when they look around for more Fifty Shades of Grey sort of fun reading. You are definitely a good enough writer to grab that brass ring. But you will not succeed by flogging a fetish that has most of your readers going "Eeeew!" and wanting to take a shower.

This is kinda what I imagine a Xhagian bukkake (i.e, bukkan) session is like ... same amount of white stuff, just one penis and one Xhagian man, no women with milk bottles, and the girl looks ecstatic instead of pained. And she's naked. Other than that ... identical! Image source: Public Disgrace.com.

I Launch The Fifty Shades of Grey Considered Blog
I've launched a new blog, "Fifty Shades of Grey Considered," which will look at Fifty Shades of Grey as a social and media phenomenon. It already has 44 posts on it! Many ... well, all ... of the posts on the blog will look very familiar to readers of Politically Sexy, because they are lifted directly from Politically Sexy.

Ana will not be getting naked on the FSOGC blog, but hey ... THIS is Politically Sexy!
The blog will have some posts of its own, but frankly, I think the 44 posts I have written to date that deal with FSOG constitute a very good start on the blog. Granted, those of you who have read my every post will find nothing new to read as yet, but if you DO need to find out something I've written in a post about Fifty Shades, it will be a very nice resource for you.
Basically, I am seeking to attract new demographics and new dollars to this blog, which is why it will be nudity-free (could go naked if I don't have any success with it in its nudity-free format). Anyway, feel free to check it out, and like it and so forth, I'd like to get this baby launched properly!

Like I said ... this IS Politically Sexy, so Ana may wind up bound over here!

Totally Spies Was Totally Kinky
The bondage gear above isn't just unique, it's rare. I found a post related to it on the Bondage Blog site this weekend and it brought back some memories. The Bondage Blog post has a great John Willie drawing of the gear in use on an attractive lass.
A poster named Collarsmith pointed out that he had only seen gear like the one in the Willie drawing in one place: the Atelier Eisen website that is cited above.
I initially encountered the imagery in an episode of a kid's cartoon show called "Totally Spies" about the adventures of three beautiful young female spies who fight supervillains. I had looked around for art like that several years ago, in spring of 2002, and found the exact same image Collarsmith did. I used it in an article about that weird bondage scene on Totally Spies. Here's the Bondage Banter post from the Bondage Banter section of my old site Jollyroper.com circa 2002 courtesy of the Internet wayback machine.
Unfortunately, the key photo that really seals the deal on the Totally Spies imagery in that post has vanished into the aether. But no matter, it turns out that thanks to Youtube the entire episode that features the bondage can now be viewed. You're welcome.
So I made some vidcaps from the Youtube video. Some of the vidcaps I made are not nearly so convincing as the one above, mainly because the episode suffers from major continuity issues. Sometimes the spies wear collars, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they have a rod running from the collar to the stocks, sometimes they don't. I don't think the continuity errors mean anything, they're pretty common in cartoons.
Totally Spies catered so assiduously to it's kinky fans that there's a wiki page about what a fine source of fetish fuel it is. Most of the speculation is based on the sheer volume and variety of fetishy scenes, costumes and situations that the series presented.
But here I think we have something approaching evidence that the fetish fuel was deliberately injected into the show (not that it's NEEDED, necessarily). Because this particular form of bondage gear happens to be so freaking rare. I think the artist probably copied it from what they assumed was an obscure bondage site. Of course, the artist might claim that he independently came up with this unique form of bondage ... but I think that's kind of revealing as well. So, in conclusion:
Gotcha!
