Of Lips And Gags

"She's ready for her close-up Mr. Demille." Chloe Camille convincingly demonstrates the way bright red lipstick can work with a red ballgag. Notice the way her lips wrap naturally around the ballgag, making it all look like a single natural unit. Dynomite!

While perusing a number of eminent websites in pursuit of my intellectual studies, I noticed something rather striking: very few of the artsy bondage kinda sites have any idea what gags are all about, as they almost never use them.

Come to think of it, a lot of hardcore bondage sites tend to neglect gags, using them rarely, or not effectively. The pic above shows what gags are all about ... controlling the sub's mouth. In the case of a ring gag, it's propping the mouth open, allowing things to be shoved rapidly in and out of it. In the case of your more commonplace ball gag, it's filling the mouth, letting the sub know that even as her top is working her pussy, her mouth is still under his control, not hers.

It's also about the softly muffled cries of passion that get out from under a gag, and the way a string of drool trails down the chin, a visible reminder of the sub's helplessness. Sure, it contorts the sub's face a bit, but that's just another aspect of her helplessness. Her very expression is controlled by her top. The sub's mouth is for kissing and licking and oral sex, and when not in use for those purposes, is quite properly bound and put away for such uses later.

If you think about it in those terms instead of going "Eeeew, gag!" you might just up your game a notch or two, art bondage people. I'm not saying that this is my taste and everybody's taste ought to be like mine, I'm writing this because I think a lot of bondage/sub-top/master-slave/up-down/whoopsi-doodle type folks might just find themselves enjoying gags a lot more of they put a little thought into what they are really all about.

And come to think of it, there ARE art bondage people, a lot of them. What the hell? What happened to bondage's ultra-skeeviness? I feel another post coming on!

The gag that says, "My lips are yours to use as you please, and when you please." And just look at how those red lips accentuate that spider gag while it's spread her mouth wide for whatever. By which I mean a cock, of course. And we can't ignore the way the model's huge, beautiful wide-open brown eyes work with her beautiful wide-open mouth. So we won't!

Image Source: A reverse image search using a number of search sites turned up one hit, a site called Scroller which is a repository of sexy images, which cited as its source a subreddit that I used to curate, which means it's a pic I found on the Interwebs somewhere. There was no useful information about the picture on Scroller, and no other hits for the pic came up on Tineye, Yandex, Baidu, Alamy, and Shutterstock as well as Google reverse image, which is the search engine that found the image on Scroller. So I have no idea where this image originated. Drop me a line if you do!

An illustrative lost opportunity. This is bondage model Tatti Russo in a shoot for (gazes at watermark) Fucking Dungeon.  Will you look at those gorgeous lips of hers, so beautifully highlighted by that red, red lipstick? Of course you will, how could you not? Can you imagine how gorgeous those lips would look wrapped around a ballgag or a ring gag? I bet you can, I sure can. However apparently the same photographer who managed to take this shot could not. Because...

You don't have to imagine because here's Tatti in the same photoshoot wearing the same lipstick but with a ball gag strapped into her mouth.  And she does look gorgeous. Just not nearly as gorgeous as in the image above. I think it's two things: the lighting is much harsher in this image, making her skin look paler and her lipstick look paler, too. More importantly, her lips are pulled back over her teeth, making her lips look less full. Of course having a ballgag in her mouth will make a woman's lips stretch, too. I don't think that's what is happening here, though. I think it's just that no one thought about the possibilities here. Letting her lips relax into a more natural shape would let them be the full lips that they are. I could be wrong, my thinking is purely hypothetical here, but I think my thoughts explain the images well.

And here's gorgeous bondage model Nicotine making my point. Her lips are stretched back, but not so far back that they don't look full and gorgeous against that gag. And that red lipstick works beautifully with the ballgag. Damn.Imagine if her lips had been posed like Chloe Camille's lips.

Image source: kink.com shoot 6716 starring Nicotine and Clair Adams.

Here's Nicotine from the same video, sans ballgag. Absolutely gorgeous lips, just like Tatti, in fact, both are flat-out gorgeous in these shoots. Imagine what could have been if the photographer had tried to get the full effect of those lips wrapped around a ballgag, like Chloe's were. Woulda been spectacular.

Why Do The Bluenoses Rage?

"What, me, porn?"

This is a vidcap from an actual sex scene from the Fifty Shades of Gray movie. I had to brighten up the image a LOT to make it visible, which would have made my point more clearly, but I didn't want to subject visitors to having to stare at the image for a while to figure out what the hell they were looking at.

Ran across a story about a schoolteacher who bought a student a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey. A private school teacher named Roger Aidoo bought a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey for a 14 year old male student, who had requested the book as part of an extracurricular reading assignment.

The student's mother, Maya Ladson, did not think this was an appropriate thing for the teacher to do, and complained to the school about it. Fair enough, the school administrators hauled Aidoo in, gave him the third degree, and were apparently satisfied with his story that he was not all that familiar with the fact that Fifty Shades of Grey contained lots of explicit BDSMy sex.

Ladson, however, ain't buying it. She wants Aidoo fired. But the administrators, in a rare display of scholarly backbone, aren't firing him over the irate cries of one crazed bluenosed mom.

Here's my take on the story. Buying the kid a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey was a boneheaded move by the teacher. But it's not a firing offense. Hell, any kid with access to a computer can find porn that will make Fifty Shades of Grey look like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. So the appropriate thing to do is to haul Aidoo in and tell him, "That was a really stupid thing to do, and if you do anything remotely like it in the future, we are going to fire you so hard and fast it will make you head spin. Now get out of here, you knucklehead."

The interesting thing is why Lawson's panties got totally bunched up over this. Bluenoses seem to get worked up over sex-related matters orders of magnitude more than regular people do. That's why they have so much influence, I suppose. I suspect that bluenoses are people who have attempted to repress their own sex drives in various ways, and every sexual thing that comes along is just a huge irritant to them, whereas it just does not bother the less sexually repressed. They're pains in the asses and generally useless, and it would be a shame if Mr. Aidoo lost his job because he irritated a bluenose. He would hardly be the first if he did, however.

Mrs. Lawson, just in case you were wondering, this is porn. Fifty Shades of Grey is what we call "erotica." And there is nothing wrong with porn or erotica, just for the record. If you want to shield your boy from it, that's fine. But try to have some reasonableness here.

Why Can't WE Have Commercials Like This?

THIS is bondage! And yet ... no reason it couldn't be FASHION bondage! Image source: Public Disgrace.com.

So, flying monkeys found an INCREDIBLE commercial for Axe body spray from France recently. A nice little update of the damsel in distress cliche for the era of 50 Shades of Grey. It's freaking hilarious, and sexy, too. But mostly, hilarious! I know that Axe commercials generally get the ladies at Jezebel.com in full twisty-panty mode, but damn, there was some wit and intelligence going on in that commercial. Keep chopping away, Axe!

Also, a bit of end-of-the-year silliness from the fashion industry, a survey of bondage-inspired fashions from 2012 entitled Fifty Shades Of 2012: Year Of The Bondage-Inspired Outfit on StarPulse.com, which proves conclusively that all a garment needs is black coloration and one or more straps to get labelled "bondage-inspired." Note that there are no fashions that involve anything being, well, um ... bound to anything else. Proof positive that the fashion industry knows diddly about bondage.

Many bondage ties you see on this site wouldn't work on a runway because with her legs tied to things, the model can't really walk. But it doesn't HAVE to be that way. This is the same model in the same bondage as at the top of the page, she's standing and can walk easily, because her legs aren't fettered. She wears a ring gag, a leather collar, a leash, a rope breast harness and her hands are tied. She's in bondage, and looks it! Why can't fashion designers come up with inspired ways of interpreting actual bondage gear and ties rather than putting black stripes on a shirt, or otherwise create completely lame designs? Is this the age of 50 Shades of Grey or not? Image source: Public Disgrace.com.

The slideshow features Anne Hathaway, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Krysten Ritter, Krysten Stewart, Lea Michelle, Carmen Electra, Katy Perry, Stacy Keibler, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Paris Hilton, Katie Price and of course, Madonna, none of whom is tied or bound or chained in any way. Frankly, for many of the images, if a fashion blog had not informed me that they were bondage-inspired outfits, I would have had no idea.

Here's a Pinterest board that the flying monkeys found that has actual bondage imagery, just to get the bad taste out of your mind. And of course, our image up top makes the point. Bondage be bondage, bitches!

Here's another bondage model, in what's practically a fashion runway scenario. She wears a rope harness, her hands are tied behind her back, and she is paraded before a crowd of seated individuals while wearing a delightful blue negligee. True, she has a handler showing her around, but that could work in a runway environment very well, and is not needed anyway. Of course, no reason designers should restrict themselves to rope or exactly copy shibari harness rigs ... but they can do a LOT more to be bondage-y than they do. Image source: Public Disgrace.com.

50 Shades of Grey: The Next Mainstream Bondage Romance?

"You understand, I wouldn't do this for just ANY billionaire!"
Image source: Kink.com shoot 14648, "Kara Price" featuring Kara Price and Mark Davis.

It's been a long time since there was a breakout bondage romance in mainstream media, and it looks like the drought is over: Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James, a London television executive who got published by a small Australian publisher and who is not getting wall to wall buzz for her book.

It's the story of a hot young woman seduced by a bondage-loving billionaire and all the deliciously naughty things he does to her. It's doing tremendously well in terms of sales and it has the buzz machine going on overtime. How successful is it? Well I linked to the Kindle version of 50 Shades because the paperbacks, which were printed in a small run initially, were going for $105.00 each on Amazon when I created the link. The Kindle version is only $6.95, so ... I figured most would prefer it. It's being called everything from Pornography for Mommies to Twilight for adults.

Now, there's an interesting story there. Fifty Shades of Grey apparently started out as Twilight fan fiction. And the Twilight fanbase adopted it as a tribute to the wonderful Twilight books (you know, Stephenie Myers' series about a vacuous high school girl who is inexplicably attractive to vampires). Then, the narrative goes, she somehow sneakily rewrote it as her own creative work, USING the Twilight fandom community to promote her book.

By all accounts, it's hard to see how 50 Shades is Twilight fanfic, so I'm not sure I buy this narrative, though it's apparently true that James wrote fanfic in the Twilight community as Icedragon Snowqueen. I really don't know enough to have an opinion, having read neither book. (Oh, I'm gonna read 50 Shades!) But it's some great gossip!

It's interesting, almost always, when a bondage story breaks over into the mainstream, it's a romance. Spicy romances, to be sure, with plenty of sex, but the feel of the genre is unmistakable: Story of O, 9 1/2 Weeks and 50 Shades all are about women who have relationships with a single man who brings out the submissive in them, while they bring out the dom in him. Secretary would be the film equivalent, I suppose.

I'm always interested in bondage that makes it into the mainstream, maybe 50 Shades will be the novel that becomes the gateway fiction that leads readers to find all the great erotic bondage fiction out there. Fiction like: Karg!

Did I mention there are already two sequels to 50 Shades out?

Nabber's Empire: An Online Bondage/Damsel In Distress Game

Being kidnapped will definitely put your ordinary bad hair day into perspective.

Well this hits just keep on coming in the world of kinky gaming. Over on Danger Theater I found an article about a new online game called Nabber's Empire which is all about kidnappers and damsels in distresses. Participants can be either ad kidnapper or a damsel in distress, they roleplay their situations. The kidnappers try to build up resources to aid in the kidnapping of damsels. The damsels try to snoop around and find ways out of their predicaments.

The game does not appear to be playable just yet, but here's the link if you want to bookmark it and keep an eye on it.

Red Lips And A Ring Gag

"With most ring gags you can see the slavegirl's uvula, but with this one you can actually see her vulva from the other side!"
Image Source: Kink.com shoot 31551 starring (left to right) Miz Berlin, Tara Lynn Fox and Claire Adams.

A Rare Ring Gag in A Mainstream Film

"Say AAAAAH? How can I NOT say Aaaaaaah?"

Seen here an image from "The Unborn" by all reports a mediocre 1990 horror flick about giving birth to the devil's child, or something like it. Odette Yustman's character voluntarily submits to bondage and gaggage for exorcism-related reasons. Gags like these show up in Japanese bondage imagery a lot, much more than in US bondage imagery. Guess this is an example of cross-cultural influence at work. Huzzah!

Upcoming New "First" for Ring Gags

"Oh, well, at least it's not duct tape -- that stuff tastes terrible."

The trailer for the upcoming (2009) flick The Unborn reveals it will bring forth a new first for bondage scenes in mainstream movies: the first ring gag in a mainstream production.

My "Firsts" chart lists "Tokyo Decadence" as the first ring gag in a mainstream film, but it's a problematical ring gag -- one of those rings set in a large leather gag, with what appears to be one of those devices you put in sinks to strain out large foodstuffs inside it.

Thhere's also the matter of "mainstream." Tokyo Decadence primarily played the art house circuit in the US but never really made the megaplexes. It's got enough strong sexual bondage imagery that it's regarded as softcore porn by some. However, it did show up in Blockbuster and most of the other big video rental outfits. So it's kinda mainstream and it's kinda not.

The Unborn is produced by Michael Bay ("Transformers") and written and directed by David S. Goyer ("Ghost Rider" and "Blade: The Series") it's pure-D mainstream stuff. If it shows up in theaters come 2009, and it almost certainly will, consider who's behind it, I'll put it on the Firsts Chart.

Makes the Oscars pale by comparison, eh?

Heidi Grows Up

"Odle-lay-ee-hoo! Any dude'll do!"

Heidi outgrew her dirndl skirt with such womanly vigor, her kindly uncle knew it was time to put the ring gag on her and teach her the Swiss folk art of cock yodeling.
