Slavegirl On The Shore

Very Slavador Dali! Click on this pic for a larger, desktop sized image.

Been fooling around in Gor, trying to come up with some cool images with some animations and atmospheric effects. Came up with one that reminded me of Salvador Dali's stuff, lacking only a melty watch or three. If you click on the pic, you can download a much larger pic that will be desktop worthy. See what you think!

Visit My Second Life Gor Blog!

A new place to hang out and dig on Second Life Gor and other sexy, sexy slavegirl video game thingies!

I've taken my Second Life Gor related posts and created a new blog with them, much as I did with my Fifty Shades of Grey related posts. It will be a place to easily find the stuff I've written on the topic, and also I'll put posts there that aren't necessarily appropriate for the more kinky, social-observation, newsy topics you'll find on politically sexy. Or I may turn it into a Mechwarrior blog. Hell, I'm capable of it!

Given its more adult subject matter, my SL Gor will be adultly illustrated, unlike my Fifty Shades blog.

Second Life Gor Evolved By The Book

"Well, I WAS going to roleplay baking some poison-laced cookies for a black caste assassin today, but he IS much better at pointing and clicking his mouse than I am!" Image source: Fucking Dungeon.com.

The original split in Second Life Gor happened about seven years ago, maybe six years. Second Life Gor was in its early stages first characterized by the growth of sims featuring Gorean roleplay, mostly involving cities. Almost as soon as that happened, outlaws, pirates and panther groups arose. Their natural opponents, other than each other, were the cities of Second Life Gor. Because the outlaws, panthers and pirates were more prone to fight, by the nature of their groups, than the cities, which had all kinds of peaceful roles (scribes, merchants, bakers, candlemakers, administrators, etc.) the outlaw groups tended to win fights most of the time. Eventually, they began to win almost all the time.

The problem was exacebated by the tendency of male players to enjoy combat more and for female players to enjoy roleplay more, and the tendency of the pirates, panthers and outlaws to ally to attack the cities. And there were also Xenas, players who disliked Gor and who played Gor, became outlaws, pirates or panthers and expressed their feelings by thoroughly kicking the asses of the big, bad Gorean Masters in the cities, in game. The end result, to hear some tell it, was that cities got rolled over on an almost hourly basis by wave after endless wave of hordes of fighting outlaws, panthers and pirates, making roleplay impossible (ninjas were apparently the only holdout here, though I did hear a rumor that such a raid did occur once).

Eventually, the cities enacted rules on their sims that female outlaws with bows (the most effective weapon in SL Gor you will recall) could not visit their cities, as such women were not seen in the Gor novels. Also, panther bands could not attack cities in large numbers because in the books panther bands and outlaw bands were small, weak groups that could never have matched the warriors who guarded a city in numbers or military prowess. Since in SL Gor it was the outlaws and friends that had the numbers and the fighting prowess, so the Gorean city sims just used their banning powers to kick out anyone who did not play on their terms.

Since the Gorean city roleplayers claimed that they were expelling the outlaws on the grounds that they were not "by the book" (I have a lot of reservations with this claim) such city sims because known as "by the book" Gor. The bow-toting female outlaws and pirates and panther girls called themselves Gor Evolved, I guess in the sense that they felt they had evolved into something beyond by the book Gor. (I personally think that it's quite reasonable to assume the existence of female warriors and large bands of outlaws and pirates that might take over a city given the way Gor's culture and level of civilization is described in the Gor novels, so I see no need to add the term "Evolved" for accuracy, though it works just fine as a descriptive term so I use it because it's what everyone uses.)

And you might figure that since I play in Gor Evolved (GE Gor) I might be completely on the side of Gor Evolved, but I'm not. Mainly because I see the roleplayers' point: if you are intent on building up any kind of story type roleplay, being captured and forced to do hostage/prisoner/captive/slave roleplay all the time is a huge pain in the ass (possibly literally, if rape/torture roleplay is involved, as it sometimes is). Bakers and scribes and such probably did not constantly get captured even in as warlike a place as Gor is. And cities probably were able to fend off outlaws gangs most of the time, else they would not be cities for long. If you are trying to build up a complex character with a complex storyline, you can see how it would be annoying to have your roleplay constantly interrupted by someone who feels he had a right to take over your storyline because he (or she) has practiced playing Second Life Gor as an arcade game more than you have.

Some Gor Evolved advocates claim that the real reason that cities outlaws femlaws (female outlaws armed with bows) is that the by the book Gorean warriors were just butthurt over getting their asses kicked repeatedly in battle, which, let's face it, is kind of supported by that particular prohibition about female outlaws using the most powerful weapon in Second Life Gor roleplay. Others call by the book Gor "tea party Gor," which implies that by the book Gor is basically a dress-up tea party using the best dolls ever. There may be elements of truth to both implications, especially "tea party Gor" since cities tend to attract female players to a much greater degree than male players so much so that some female players have played male warriors, not because they found it appealing, but so that the other female players would have male warriors to interact with. Guys just don't want to play in that tea party.

I'm not an advocate of either of these views, Gor Evolved works for me because raiding is the MOST FUN EVAH! And I find that the downtime between raids is great for the other parts of Gorean roleplay, which in my case is doing funny stuff. Sometimes, funny, raunchy stuff, but mostly I enjoy parodying the hell out of the heroic Gorean warrior. My character is greedy, self-serving, loves to claim credit for what others achieve and vain, though he does fight bravely enough, not out of valor, but just because he thinks fighting is fun. Often all it requires is bragging artfully after a raid ... or during one. Easy enough to do between raids, and fun, fun, fun!

I wish the split between by the book cities and Gor Evolved outlaws were not so binary, and it's not really, because here's the dirty little secret of Second Life Gor: practically everyone has alts, that is, they have more than one avatar (Second Life allows players with free accounts to have up to eight avatars with different avatar names). So it's very possible to have a male warrior alt, a panther girl alt and a paga slut alt, if you want to do that. You can play in by the book Gor, Gor Evolved AND anything else you want to, if you have the time.

Wait a minute. Male warrior alt AND panther girl? Sure, I SAID some female players do that. I've even heard they are supposed to be tremendously good at playing male warriors, so much so that slavegirls players fall in love with the character. Which leads us to our next topic: OOC and IC.

Gagged, Harnessed Paga Slut Dances For Masters

How Gorean dancers usually end their dance.

Got some new art up for my Cafe Press T-shirt shop, a Gorean paga slut dancing for free men in the confines of a paga tavern, wearing only a ball gag and a sex harness, not knowing which if any of them will drag her to an alcove and use her. Adds a whole new element to being a waitress!

World of Warcraft and Hyborea and Gor Evolved, Oh My!

Combat ... the common coin of the World of Warcraft, Hyperborea and Gor Evolved.

A fellow showed up on the Gorums saying that he was working with a well-heeled company that was interested in developing a pay-for-play virtual world (think World of Warcraft) that would include adult content (think Second Life, thought it is a freebie world, not pay for play). He asked for suggestions, which sparked some thinking on my part, which I'll share with you, because I'm such a nice guy.

You should really look at Gor Evolved (which you apparently did not do) if you want to really assess the potential of Gor for helping populate your virtual world. One of the advantages you cite would be HUGELY popular for Gor Extended players, who typically engage in the dreaded combat thing much more often than BtB players, which is ... no lag. SL Gor fights between huge groups with dozens of players participating typically result in arrows hanging in the air in rows. If your lag solution fixes that, and I'm pretty sure it would, you'd have a huge advantage over SL Gor right there alone.

The ablity to have 1000 avatars on a single sim would be good too. Right now we don't KNOW how big battles in Gor Extended might be because sims typically can't handle more than 60 players at a swat (as the BtB guys how often their battles ... hell, their ANYTHINGS ... bump up against sim limits on the number of players). I can see battles with hundreds of players that last for hours. Tremendous fun for me and the despised "pew-pewers" I think.

And because of its greater emphasis on combat, and on it's better range of roles for women (i.e., female warriors, not permitted in the more tradional Gorean sims) Gor evolved is likely a more productive source of new players from outside Gor. I'm thinking about World of Warcraft (WoW) here. It has eleven million players I understand. I imagine that every months tens of thousands of WoW players think, "Damn, I'm getting bored with WoW and all the other games out there ... I mean, I still like the fighting, but I wish there was more to it."

Sexy slavegirls, the common coin of Hyperborea and SL Gor. That would amount to "more to it," wouldn't it?

Well, what they are thinking about is what Gor Evolved IS. If you can communicate that to WoW players somehow, you might have a conduit that could pump thousands of new players to your world every month, and there's nothing WoW can do about it, because they have to keep that youth market. Your world could sort of "harvest" the WoW players as they mature.

Now an original thought. Why do Gor? Why not do something like the Hyborean world described in the "Savage Sword of Conan" comics? Slavery is rampant in that world, Goreans slavegirls, Masters, Mistresses and such would fit quite naturally into it. I wrote a long article about the Hyborean Age's Gorlike aspects at one time, and came to following conclusion:

The thing about Savage Sword of Conan other than being damn good in and of itself, is that all the elements were there to make it a Gorean-in-everything-but-name comic (as it is, it's damn close to being that). All it would have taken is a little more focus on bondage where the slavegirls are concerned.

My point is, Goreans could live very easily in the Hypborean Age, taking roles as slavegirls, warriors, free women and such that are pretty much the same as their roles in Gor, and you wouldn't have to fight all the prejudice against Gor that now exists. Frankly I think Goreans have a better feel for roleplaying barbarians than anyone else, because they alone have dared to play roles that run counter to modern ideas concerning egalitarianism, sexism, slavery, etc.

You could follow Alice's idea of creating a new land that didnt have any copyright entanglements very easily in such a situation, because much of what Howard laid down in his Conan stories has become generic. Wouldn't be hard to create a Hyperborea-in-another-name because there are a huge number of such places already.

In fact, you might want to consider creating a Gor continent and linking it to a Hyperborean continent. The distance between Cimmeria and Torvaldsland is just not that great, just as the distance between Aquilonia and Ar is not that great.

From the guy's response to my post, he's not interested. Tsk, tsk. I have a tendency to be right about these things.

Tathassa ... A Gorgeous Gorean Sim

A lovely slavegirl in Gor rests on a ledge in a beautiful Gorean sim called Tathassa.

One of the things about working with virtual worlds is, being virtual and all, virtual real estate and materials are much cheaper, being made up and all. What this means practically is that sim designers do not have to build to human scale or worry about physics. This has some implications.

That's a HUGE statue she's kneeling next to. It totally dwarfs her! Click on the pic to see a larger version.

Gorean builds are noted throughout Second Life for their beauty, I think, because they impose limits on the builders. The architecture has to be something that people might build and live in with the technology available to human beings at their techno level of development (think Roman Empire-> early Middle Ages for everything except medicine) and cultural background. But there's nothing restraining them as to the particulars of their designs, or the topology of their world (so long as it's Earthly as in the books).

I guess the statue is not all that big. Nor are ... any of the others ...

And the thing is the Gorean sim designers don't just think in terms of scale, though they are clearly capable of doin so. Check out the large sized image of Brundisium from my previous post ... the detail there is subtle and amazing. And some very nice stuff is done on a smaller scale in many Gorean sims.

Our lovely kajira lounges in a shallow pool tide pool. Very nice work on the small scale.

Without these constraints most SL designers come up with pedestrian imitations of current topology and architecture or stuff that looks like a vidcap of a Hanna Barbera cartoon. This is not to say that SL non-Gorean designers don't come up with some brilliant designs. Some do, creating mind-bogglingly striking and appealing designs for sims. But it is fair to say that many do not.

Gorean Roleplay and the Gor Movies

This is the opening scene from Deathstalker (the first movie in the series) which is arguably the finest Gor movie ever made, even if it wasn't called a Gor movie. In this scene the mostly naked woman in the foreground is in bondage the whole time. She is a captive of the slaver guy immediately behind her, and he's put her on those leaves so he can rape her. The guys seen in the background interrupt his plan with their own plan, which is to kill him and rape the woman themselves. Then Deathstalker shows up and kills all the ambusher guys. To show his gratitude the slaver guy offers Deathstalker the use of his woman, but then tries to kill Deathstalker, who is way ahead of him and kills the slaver guy. Then instead of freeing the woman he pins her to a tree by stabbing the tree with a big knife and starts raping her after hanging her from the knife by her wrist ropes. But he's interrupted by a preist messenger for the king, who's got a mission for Deathstalker. Deathstalker talks with him for a bit and says "Fine I'll talk the king after I finish raping this woman"... only to discover that while he has been distracted by the preist-messenger, she had gotten free of her bonds (knives are a kinda of dumb thing to hang women from) and scarfered off into the forest. Now THAT'S how you start a Gor movie! (The actual Gor movies had nothing that even came close to matching it.)

I recently ran across a post from a fellow who was discouraged because he felt the roleplay in SL Gor wasn't sufficiently Gorean, that it feel far short of what it should be. That got me thinking about other attempts to capture the Gorean spirit, and I wrote a response that may be of interest to all:

Well. one point you may wish to consider is that it is damn hard to do a proper job of creating realistic Gorean roleplay, even with the best will in the world. And even so, I feel that SL Gor is so much better than any other medium that I've pretty much lost all interest in them. Books, movies, plays, nothing else even comes close. The intense pleasure I get from acting out the Gor novels, putting my own stamp on a character, making him move and breathe, making Gorean scenes come to life in conjunction with other people, really brings the experience home to me in a way that nothing else does.

Think of it this way. The people who made the Gor movies: "Gor" and "Outlaw of Gor" were presumably much more motivated than your average SL Gor roleplayer: they were being given money, there is always the promise of much more money and great fame if the project succeeds. They stand to gain fame and fortune if they do well. Presumably they are participating in the movie in hopes of becoming famous movie stars, famous and successful directors, actors and writers, etc. ... just how motivated can you get?

And yet those movies were abysmal horrors, no more true to the Gor novels than the most wretches excesses of Gor Evolved. (And some of the outliers of Gor Evolved are truly bad ... the other day I saw blue avatars on a supposedly Gorean sim. Blue avatars!). The Gor movies were lame-brained, pathetic excuses for movies that completely missed out on the spirit of Gor and also weren't even interesting stories in any respect. They sucked, they sucked hard, despite all that motivation.

The point is ... it's damned hard to capture the essence of the Gor novels and bring it to life even if you have huge RL motivators for doing so.

I feel that SL Gor has huge room for improvement, and yet even as it is, it's beautiful, a wonderful living world, brought to life by the people who have followed Norman's lead and tried in their various ways to fill the roles he unwittingly created for them. Even if many of them are doing it very badly, some are doing it very well, and damn ... most of us are having great fun at it, to be honest.

Recognize that getting Gor right is a very difficult thing and enjoy it on your own terms, is what I would recommend. There's a lot to enjoy.

Second Life … It’s Not Just Gor …

Slave Leia, bound and gagged and being fucked by a visiting barbarian mercenary in Jabba’s compound. Click on the pic to see a larger version.

In my general delight in playing at the game of Gor on Second Life, I have neglected to mention the obvious, which is that plenty of other fantasies than Gorean ones are being enjoyed in Second Life. There are well-developed fandoms on Second Life for Star Wars roleplay, Star Trek roleplay and many others. (There’s even a fandom for Star Wars/Gorean crossover roleplay. Heh. Slave Leia strikes again.)

What this means is, if you want to enjoy a fantasy of a bound, gagged Slave Leia dancing naked for a barbaric warrior, or being sexually used by a barbaric warrior, you can probably get that worked out pretty easily. As the illustrations here demonstrate. It was a TRIVIAL thing for me to get a female model in a Princess Leia avvie to dance and fur for my barbaric warrior. It would be a trivial thing for most who know Gor or Star Wars well, because the coin of the realm in the land of roleplay is knowing your role.

What does this mean for you? No more dreaming “what if” about your favorite movie characters. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE ON SECOND LIFE!!!! In a pretend-y sort of way, granted, but hell, it’s so much more fun than watching a movie and just wishing it were done right, it almost defies description.

But of course, me being me, I’m gonna try.

The Rainforest of Shaba

Click on the pic to see a full size version. The small size does not do it justice.

Here's another beautiful Gorean sim, this one being unusual as it's in Gor Evolved. Rainforest of Shaba is mostly jungle-haunted ruins, inhabited by a panther tribe, a taluna tribe, a pygmy tribe and a mercenary outfit. There's also an abandoned city (Shaba) with a small population of traditional Goreans. You can get around much of the sim by canoe, as narrow waterways wind through it. It's quite beautiful, with jungle-haunted ruins everywhere.

The image shown here is the bay in front of the fortress inhabited by the mercenaries. It's an interesting variation on the "fortress with kill zone" approach I spoke about earlier. Instead of having a flat, barren plain in front of the fortress to use as a kill zone for any invaders, it has a wide, beautiful bay, complete with waterfalls, with a narrow bridge being the only way in, i.e., serving as the kill zone.

Now don't be fooled by these images. They appear to be flat two dimensional cartoons on my blog, but in fact they are three dimensional artifacts. You don't look at them, you enter them.

Second Life Gor ... famous for beauty

Gorean sims are widely disliked by many Second Life residents, being too much fun and all, but the interesting thing is ... they DO have the reputation of having some of the most beautiful builds in Second Life. This image is from the city of Brundisium, a sim with a lot of gay Gorean residents (it's not a gay-themed Gorean sim like White Water, but it's got a lot of gay guys living there. And boy, those gay guys can design, yes they can. The small pick seen here doesn't do the build justice. Click on the pic like the caption says and see what it's really like. This is just one part of Brundisium, there are over 300 Gorean themed sims in Second Life, they actually have built a virtual world here.

Sadly, since I like to fight, I live in Gor Evolved, where the builds are mostly docks leading to a kill zone in front of a butt-ugly fortress. But I do get to fight and have adventures a lot, which is what I am in Gor for.

John Norman: Better Than Tolkein

"So then when Master John bought Slave Kat his Free Companion Marianna was all, Eeeewwww, not ANOTHER slave, even though the First Girl on his chain Tami was COMPLETELY cool with it!”
Yes, there IS gossip on Gor. There are female players, therefore, there WILL be gossip!

Image source: screencap of the goings-on at the En'kara Fair in the Gorean Forums website, from 2022.

I don’t think highly of John Norman as a prose stylist or a philosopher, but I do think he was a genius. His genius lay in his ability to create a world as complex and internally consistent as J. R. R. Tolkein’s Middle Earth, only much more interesting and better, if you’re an adult, most especially if you are female and adult. Because whereas Tolkien kept his focus entirely on warfare (hence spawning World of Warcraft, an obvious Tolkein ripoff) Norman took in the slaveholding aspects of ancient civilizations and used them as the basis for adding dominance and submission (and bondage, of course) sexual fantasy to his world.

And while many guys love video games based strictly on warfare, women like games based on richer, more complex stuff, and Gor was in that respect MUCH richer and more complex than Middle Earth.

And whereas Tolkien’s Middle Earth was almost entirely rooted in European mythology, Norman’s much more extensive body of work (28 Gor novels so far, all very thick tomes) is based on a variety of cultures -- most notably ancient Greece and Rome, but also the Viking, the Indians, the Mongols, the Arabs and others, all convincingly portrayed with great detail as to their lifestyles and habits, yet all with a distinctive difference that does make them an actual alien culture.

As a result, Norman created a world that is so compelling that its Second Life incarnation (known as SL Gor) draws in players who are not even into sexual dominance and submission play. That’s because the combination of a very well thought out alternate world full of adventure, mystery and romance with an intensely felt sexuality that permeates its culture is quite simply explosive in its effect on participants.

SL Gor is orders of magnitude more compelling than any other entertainment I have ever encountered.

Let me try to make what I’m talking about more clear with a concrete example. In a lot of online games like World of Warcraft you can be a member of a group that raids other groups/cities/camps/whatever, and grabs booty -- gold, weapons, armor, food, medicine and whatnot, although there’s not really a lot of whatnot. You go out, you fight, you have a great victory (or a tragic defeat) you head home and tell lies about what you did to anybody who will listen and gear up the for the next raid.

You can really get into the World of Warcraft game because the various cultures and races -- orcs, elves, humans, etc., have well thought out, convincing cultures. It doesn’t feel like it’s just some flimsy excuse for battle, though frankly the game’s emphasis on battle may just obscure that fact a bit.

Now let’s look at how a raid proceeds on SL Gor. You get together with your buddies (of whatever gender, a lot of panthers and such on SL Gor), you go out and fight and have a glorious victory, capture some booty, go home and tell lies about what you did, and have sex with your booty, often while lying to your booty as well.

Because of course, in SL Gor, with its high proportion of female players, there are a ton of slave girls in most cities, panther camps, outlaw camps and pirate ports, many of them happy for the chance to be whisked away for some captive slave girl roleplay. Most of them just LUUUURRVE to be captured, stripped of all their clothing, tied up,and sexually used because they’re adult women and they like it.

Yes, I am saying that in SL Gor the booty is actual booty … slave girl booty, to be exact, though panthers get captured and used a lot, too.

And even outside the context of raids, the lives of slave girls in SL Gor consist of being used, either by their Master or all Masters, and by used we mean exactly that … the Master controls all aspects of the sex, where and when it will be done, how it will be done, how long it will last, and the slave girl must serve as ordered. (Of course, a player behind a slave girl avatar has the option of ending any scene in SL Gor just by moving her avatar to another location (called TPing out, short for teleporting out). But they rarely do so, because they are playing slave girls for a reason -- they like being used and controlled.

Don’t get me wrong. Although SL Gor is full of sexuality and has many opportunities for combat, that’s hardly all that goes on. Most of the castes represented in the books are representd on SL Gor, with plenty of scribes, bakers, merchants, builders, administrators, metalworkers and whatnot. Free women often play these roles, but there are plenty of male players as well. Though as you might imagine, most men play warriors of some kind and most women play slave girls. Since it’s possible to have more than on avatar however, many players play two or three roles at once, getting to experience a variety of Gorean roleplay instead of constantly being stuck in warrior/slave girl mode. (I don’t see how they do it, but they clearly do.)

The richness and detail of Gorean culture, with its castes, its homestones, its laws of conduct, and its varying groups, means it doesn’t feel like a cheesy backdrop for fighting and sexing -- and it’s not. There are a lot of players who never fight in SL Gor, and many others who never have sex, finding their interests occupied by other parts of the game. The game is rich, deep and involving, in ways others are not. And although players bitch regularly about not getting enough roleplay, or not getting enough sex, or getting too much of either, and many other things besides, they keep coming back.

World of Warcraft and its ilk have plenty of opportunities for combat and some opportunities for roleplay, but NOTHING like the richness and variety of SL Gor. It’s as close to actually living in another world as you can get right now, a DAMN sight closer than anything else I know of.

Damn. I’m only BEGINNING to paint the picture here. But I hope it’s taking shape.

You can visit Second Life and find out for yourself here.

SL Gor: It Is Not Just About The Sex -- Kinda

Sex in Second Life is so good you feel like you're floating in the air!

OK, in my previous post about the Gor sims in Second Life (henceforth referred to as SL Gor) I wrote a phrase that I generally associate with hypocrisy, dishonesty and general stupidity. I wrote:

“Its not just about the sex.”

I despise the phrase and the people who use it because most of the time they are making a transparent effort to disavow their sexual interest in something or other. The classic example is the old joke about Playboy Magazine: “I read it for the articles.” The lie fools no one to such an extent that it has become a joke, as the lie is generally trotted out because the liar feels compelled to do so even though he or she knows it will fool no one, but it provides them with what they think is cover for their interest. They are so embarrassed to admit publicly to any sexual interests that being an obvious liar seems less terrible for them.

So let state now and for the record that I LUUUUUURVE the fact that SL Gor is full of a number of naked or nearly naked slave girls who are submissive, who will fur you (Gorean for “fuck you” as fucking is generally done “in the furs”) any way you like, because there are a LOT of them … more women than men play SL Gor.

Let there be no doubt about it -- this is a very important point to me, and without it I would have little or no interest in SL Gor.

That said:

“It’s not just about the sex.”

If the B/d slave girl sex were ALL I was interested in, Second Life has an active BDSM club scene which most definitely IS all about the B&D slave girl sex, among other things. (And to be honest, many Goreans have alts that have been or are in the Second Life B&D club scene.)

So within THAT context, I am saying that SL Gor is all about the adventure, the romance, the combat (yes, there’s combat and plenty of it for those who like it) and excitement of living the life of a Gorean character (in my case, that of a Gorean Master).

In my next post I will endeavor to get down to the nitty-gritty and explain exactly WHY SL Gor is orders of magnitude more entertaining than any other medium in existence, including other parts of the Internet. And while it’s not JUST about the sex, the sex is an important element. Crucial, even.

Panther Girl Fantasy

Note slave kennel in background as bound woman is threatened with a whip. So very SL Gorean.

I found a lot of SL Gorean videos on Youtube in my research for the Unreal Estate story, many not related to real estate, but celebrations of SL Gor. They’re a mixed bag as you might expect, but a few of them are great, and this one is a greatly great. Entitled “Gor: Sweet Escape” it’s a video about panther girls (wild women who live in the forest and fight each other and hunt for men and one another for sexual purposes, and are hunted by men for sexual purposes).

The thing that makes this video especially powerful and evocative is the way the imagery and the music (“Pocketful of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield) are combined. It conveys very powerfully the emotional appeal of the panther girl fantasy, in a way that rational discourse, or even the kind of discourse I typically engage in, could ever manage.

Check it out.

Unreal Estate

Stripper: “I love long walks on the beach, dancing in the sand, and I hate jealous avatars. Don’t you just hate jealous avatars?”

I thought the real estate game couldn’t get any more unreal.

I was wrong. Oh, so wrong.

The image above is from the Youtube video embedded below. It is part of an ad for people to come live in “The City of Sand Sleen.” Where is the City of Sand Sleen? On Second Life’s Gor section, of course. You can buy property there. Or rent. Your choice. Of course, the place doesn’t exist in the real world, so that’s a downside for sure. But at least you’re paying for it with unreal Linden dollars.

Except -- Linden dollars aren’t COMPLETELY unreal. You can buy them with US currency. The current rate is 1000 Linden dollars for $4.16 US. Which means $1US equal $250 Linden, more or less. Which means Linden bucks have real value. In fact, they are more valuable than many foreign currencies. Linden bucks are worth almost TEN TIMES what the Columbian peso is worth ($1US equals 2,305 Columbian pesos, according to a currency exchange chart I just consulted.)

So I guess it makes sense to advertise unreal property on Youtube. There’s apparently good money to be made … especially if you live in Columbia.

(Does anybody remember the old saying that goes: Neurotics are people that build castles in the air, psychotics are people who live in those castles, and psychiatrists are people who charge them rent?)

Full disclosure: I have a house in SL Gor. But: such a deal! I’m getting in on the ground floor of this real estate boom before it explodes!

And, finally: is this so different from what the bankers and real estate moguls were doing before their schemes blew up in everyone’s faces? At least the folks in Second Life are being up front about what they are selling.

Below: an unreal estate ad.

From the Lurid to the Turgid

She was turned into a Sex Slave on the Rue de Montmartre by ruthless French human traffickers who got her hooked on escargot!”

In my article on Second Life Gor, the imagery and the text leaned heavily toward Gor, because that’s what I like. But as I tried to make plain, you can go ANYWHERE with the DiD imagery you like in Second Life, because there ARE no rules about sex and bondage, and because there’s a large kink community outside of Second Life that provides lots of non-Gorean bondage imagery. So I’ll lay on a few examples from time to time, like this lurid Lifetime-style sex slavery image. Of course, the Lifetime Channel would never go for imagery this naked … and that’s ANOTHER reason Second Life rocks.

Public Bondage In Second Life

"What do you mean you can't dance when you're hogtied? What kind of paga slave ARE you?"

So I haven’t updated my blog in a couple of days and I thought I’d explain why: Second Life Gor FREAKING ROCKS!!! That’s why! I can’t BELIEVE how good it is. So I wrote an article with pictures and arrows and everything to demonstrate why Second Life or something like it may well be the future of the Internet. Movies, television, books, message boards, (ahem) blogs -- they all pale before the glory of Second Life Gor!
